Should I use PPC for a site thats well ranked organically anyways ??

    Hi all,

Recently have taken responsibility for a site that is well ranked for the bulk of the keywords relevant to our business. All good so far. However , I've been reading about PPC and its benefits but I'm wondering is there any point pursuing a ppc campaign for our site given that organic seo seems to have the site well ranked ?? Or is it the case of the more exposure the better ??

I would be interested to hear your thoughts,

Yes, you should - and for 2 very good reasons:

    1) As a safeguard just in case the site drops in ranking or totally disappears from the search engines

    2) You can run your campaigns for the sole purpose of collecting and analyzing your marketing data. You can know - to the exact penny - which of your keywords are converting, which are duds, your ROI, etc.

Also, given the fact that you can pause your campaigns at any time - you can stop running them when you have enough statistically significant data.

In this way, if anything ever goes wrong on the organic listings side - you can be ready in an instant with your PPC campaign and not lose any sales. :)

    Hope this helps.

If you can make more cash and profit then why wouldn't you do PPC. You are obviously getting traffic from the search engines and have a good idea if it converts and makes you money, so if your making money from that traffic already, then it's time to expand and make even more money. I would even do media buys, CPV, etc.

I got a few sites on top of google and I still use different resources to make extra money.

So yes, I highly suggest you expand. Start slowly and build up everyday.

    Good luck.

I'm sure there are related search terms your site is not ranking for organically. Use some of those keywords for PPC and see which ones convert.

    Hey Shorty ,

Cheers for that , thats something I'm looking into right now.

Gonna post this separately as well , but what is your opinion on content ( specifically keyword content ) for a sites homepage ?? Our sites homepage is rather content sparse ( Cant post the link unfortunately , live links arent available to me yet ) but unfortunately this is something that the company is unwilling to change ( they like the visual impact of the video clips )
There is one particular keyword ( quite important to the business ) that our site isn't well ranked for , and I'm thinking that this may be due to the homepage consisting mostly of Flash vids. While the keyword is liberally sprinkled throughout the site , its not mentioned anywhere on the homepage apart from the title and meta tags. Having a look at the business's competitors they all seem to have keyword rich content on their homepages, so I'm guessing maybe something similar would be a step in the right direction for our site ??

Or is homepage content largely irrelevant ??
    All thoughts welcome !
