Utube company's website got killed by the overwhelming traffic and ranking of Youtube.com more on my blog here What do you think, can Utube sue YouTube in any way ?
Join a CPM network! Why sue, monetize! I doubt they have a leg to stand on for litigation. Not that concrete evidence is required to win cases of course.
I thought at this too, they could park the domain and i'm sure it would generate very high revenues with this ammount of traffic
68 million hits and they are losing money? They could retire from making tubes on that number of hits.
Utube are obviously idiots who shouldn't be in business if they can't capitalise on this oppertunity. Pete
I agree. However I couldn't manufacture plumbing equipment and they probably can't monetize type in traffic.
You're talking out of your ass... 1) You agree that they're "idiots" because they're not capitalizing on this 2) You recognize the fact that they do what they do, and you do what you do, and the two things don't necessarily have an overlap Perhaps if these peoples' niche was making money off of their website, we would have reason to call them idiots - but I think that's a little rash. There is a good possibility that they don't even have a clue what "monetizing" means. Why don't one of you "geniuses" be a good Sam, and tell them about what they're missing? (as it's not really likely that they regularly frequent DP) Either that, or just don't call them idiots. We've probably all missed a few good opportunities. It shouldn't call our intellect into question.
It wasn't me who was calling them an idiot. My point was that they should find some way to monetize it going forward rather than just trying to ignore it. I was stating that we have no reason to expect an average business owner to be able to monetize an influx of 64 million people accidentaly visiting his plumbing website. Just the same as they wouldn't expect me to be able to suddenly start manufacturing their products. As far as I can see you are making exactly the same point as me?
He isn't talking out of his ass. Mad4 rings a plumber when someone comes trashing his boiler. Similarly, utube would be better off calling a web marketer when their website gets hammered. No need to grab the guns right away.
No problem with your logic, except that you can plainly see (from the quote) that you did express agreement with GADOOD, who made the offending comment. GADOOD, you really should use a little tact when you address this sort of situation. These people are hardly idiots. You will have to forgive them for not necessarily having the all-knowing powers that you seem to have. Somehow, I have a hard time understanding how you arrive at the conclusion that they shouldn't be in business, on account of not knowing how to work the AdSense angle, but whatever. Probably I shouldn't be in business for even wasting my time to bring this point up on you...
solid7: When my cousin owned a second hand computer shop down a certain road in my town, a lot of people kept going in looking for hoover bags and accessories as a shop nearby that sold them had closed down, so he started to stock them as well. If people are knocking down your door and they're all looking for one thing - you don't just sit there going 'dur we sell pipes', do you? Come on. Tact? Why should I. I envy their situation and they aren't capitalizing on it (instead they're probably whinging which is the impression I get). It isn't often you're handed a stack load of money in this world, and I will offend anyone who doesn't take it. So what. Pete
Not everyone has the ability to adapt to a new situation. It's a character flaw from some people, not necessarily a fault. It is better to envy the innovative, than to degrade the rest. What you say sounds natural, from your perspective. Come work for me for a day, and I'm sure that I could make you feel like a clown. (through no fault of your own, other than your lack of knowledge) Doubt me?
But you could hire some workers that could manufacture, if there would be thousand of people who want to buy from you and they could hire people to monetize their website, as they get millions of hits oh and maybe they hired a team and the marketer told them the news would help this is true, but if you had the opportunity, why lose it like an idiot ? Anyway, as i posted before, we can't tell for sure if this is really a bad thing for them or even more promotion
You are all assuming that the webmaster they employ is also knowledgeable in this regard. Have we missed the point that sometimes we have people in our employ who don't know things, simply because WE don't know what THEY don't know? Come on... be realistic. We all want the best of the best, and if you ever had to spend a day shopping for employees, or 3rd party services, everyone will tell you that THEY are *the best*, and that you will go wrong without them. In order to survive in a competitive market, a little smoke usually gets blown up some asses. Unless you know exactly what you need in an employee, it makes it that much harder. Web services is a tough area for those who are not in the know! I maintain - nothing in this situation qualifies U-tube as a band of idiots!!!!
They did not have any traffic before 2006. I wonder why someone is not offering few millions for their domain. I wish I had this money...
The way I see it, instead of calling them idiots, somebody should be on the horn, trying like hell to become their NEW webmaster, using these points as a seller. Who becomes the idiot in that case?
