For me, the question of the OP has been answered. Its a "yes" for me. The rest is immaterial, including ( maybe especially )
    the trolls. :)

I think I read that the states are considering asking to change the laws to allow them to default ( declare bankruptcy ).
    What happens then ?

Probably the same that happens to the bankrupt individual: the inability to borrow money for a time period and possibly the seizure of assets.

If any government was actually sovereign and not paid off it would give a certain hand gesture to the money lenders, after all the only thing stopping them are silly monetary laws. What would the IMF et al do? Cry and declare the nation/state as terrorist? Fuck the banks and the spineless scum they pay off to steal our money.

I think it's time for leaders to do as Hitler did in terms of reparations.

You really have to ask that?

Read the bold underlined portion of your first question if you really want an answer to the second one. ;)

I agree. 15% real unemployment for about three years, a shrinking middle class, a depressed housing market, and no signs of a recovery are all signs of a depression.

    Mia, nice bike :)

Thanks.. It should be noted that that bike was Built in Kansas City because the state of Wisconsin has been screwing businesses for years. The liberals in Madison kicked HD out of their home and then the union workers cry and bitch and blame it all on HD.

Hopefully Walker means what he said to get elected and that Wisconsin truly is OPEN FOR BUSINESS!!! With a 162% increase in corporate income taxes and some 60% increase in personal income taxes in Illinois, hopefully some of you start moving back. Its gonna take a while. Even with huge increase in taxes down south, Wisconsin still ranks as one of the highest taxed, unfriendliest places for business.

I'm still hear because most of my services are still tax exempt.

    DJIA 11,977.19: 1-25-11

A correct assumption for the above quote before the outcome of the 08 elections and the nomination of the present Administration.

The Republican fostered Recession was curtailed in June of 09 beginning with positive GDP that remains uninterrupted to date.

DJIA during the Republican Recession March 09 - 6500.00

If you really want to use the stock market as a metric for gauging the strength of the economy, remember also that the Stock market peaked around 11,000+ end of 2005. Democrats took over in 2006 and its been on the way down ever since. Oh, and in March of 2009, guess again who was in charge?

Breeze, stop being so naive and at the very least buy a book on economics.

There should be an age restriction on this section. Then we'd stop foolish children like Breeze from annoying sane people.

...Who was in charge in June of 09 that concluded the Republican recession.....the Democrats in both the Congress and the Executive.

You two are fooling only yourselves for the past Administrations responsibility for the 07-09 Recession and the precursor to a Depression that was thwarted by the present Administration.

    Grow-up boys.

That is a very positive sign in helping your good government and getting it out of "depression". Keep up the good work.

You do know what a dictionary is right?

I'm not sure I follow. This does not include state and federal income and corporate tax. Many of the products we sell are sales tax exempt. We only found that out after being audited and finding out that we were collecting and paying the state sales tax on things we were not supposed to. They kept that money btw, and charged us a penalty for paying it.

My job as a citizen of this country is to be a productive individual. It is not to fund wasteful spending or to help my government get itself out of debt it put itself in.

The answer to "getting out of "depression" my young East Coast Friend, is to stop spending. Unfortunately many in our government believe the way you get out of debt is by taxing more and spending more. They call it investment. The only problem with that is investments usually generate a "return". Spending more than you have on items that do not generate a return is a LOSS, not an investment.

    Interpretation:
Sending all of our manufacturing jobs overseas was a natural and necessary progression. Cronie capitalism that favors big business over small business is not an issue. Innovation and entrepreneurship are no longer enough in America. You need a college degree if you want to compete with China and India.

    Reality:
America has the second highest percentage of it's population with a college diploma, with China and India not even in the top 20.

And to facilitate this great plan, we need to borrow more money from the American taxpayer to try and push more people through school. As I sat there with my jaw agape, watching this idiot, I realized I will never take my kids out of private school where I can scream directly at a failing teacher, and threaten to send my child and my money elsewhere.

I could not believe Obama claiming that China sends all of its children to the best schools, and educates them. They send them to factories to make cheap products for Wal-Mart that poison our children who do go to school. I really thought the Chinese dictator was below the podium blowing him when he went on his China rules rant.
