I have a blog, and I'm intending to increase back links and traffic, what could be the best way to do it? And how does PR exactly work and how can I increase my blog PR and improve alexa ranking?
You need backlinks from High PR pages. Get a backlink from wikipedia and your site will automatically be at least PR3.
The basic action items to improve your PR are: 1. Relevant High PR Backlinks 2. Number of backlinks 3. Anchor text of link backs Cheers Josh
The only way to increase PR is build link, building dofollow quality link You can get them through link purchase, blog comment, social bookmarking, directory, forum posting etc
I have to agree with webmaster. PR isn't everything and if you are trying to get people to your site then look at Backlinks from relevant websites Bookmarking Pings Unique content Forum sigs Blog comments Backlinks are powerful however doing everything together means you are not putting all your eggs in one basket.
Page rank is not problem any more the thing which matters is how you present your website to search engine work on content and back links Do follow.
Well, fresh content is one thing but there are many other things which are very important for increasing page rank and this is link building. You have to do link building continuously for better result but don't build too many links in one day, it would harm your link building campaign. Links should be natural means it should contain all types of links, nofollow, dofollow, high pr, low pr, domain extension other than .com only, links from blogs, links from forum, links from directories etc. If you have followed these things then you shouldn't be worry about page rank. However, algorithm of page rank is very complex today, you may easily see that any website is ranking high with even zero pr leaving behind 5 pr websites. But for some people pr is very valuable, one of them is those who are selling links or buying links. While searching information on pr algorithm I reached Wikipedia and according to it, if your website has 5 pr then there is 50% possibility that your site's data would be searched by visitors. Does it really apply according to your experience? I'm looking for some answers from experienced guys... Thanks
PR is not just about link building, you also should have unique content which updated on regular basis.
PageRank is Google's internal measurement denoting the number and importance of links pointing to any given site; that said, it basically measures the sites authority on a given topic. When a site links to another website it is basically a vote for that site; and the more authority the site has that is linking to the other site, the more that vote is worth.
You need to get reputable websites to link to yours. If you have good high quality content it will be easier to contact other bloggers in your niche and they will be more likely to link to you. Its not the number of links that you need to worry about, it is the quality of the links that matter.
So, as a noobie I would like to regurgitate how I understand it and everyone more experienced can tell me where I'm right and wrong. I want to know a little more of the nitty gritty of how it's done: A) you want quality backlinks (links to your pages with at least some PR, the higher the better) B) The ways to get these are many-fold: --1) make interesting content that is free and people want to read and is good enough for people to want to link to ---- a) find out what people want by seeing what keywords are semi-popular (but not too popular if you're just starting out or competition will be too intense?) ---- b) write blog posts about these topics that are interesting, helpful, or useful -- 2) get links to these interesting posts ---- a) comment on forums and use a signature line and even inline links to your content ---- b) get noticed by successful bloggers/websites in your niche and somehow get them to link to you ---- c) link to other quality blogs and hopefully they will notice yours ---- d) comment on blogs daily and link to your content (hopefully they're relevant to your topic) ---- e) or you could just pay for links (I don't know much about this yet)
in order to get good backlinks on autopilot, you first need great content that people will likely share. you could build your backlinks too though. See; to Google it is a popularity contest. the more recognition you get from other sites to yours then the better Google will rank your site.
