I think they are making a mistake by coding a mobile style targeted only for webkit compatible browsers. That means no BlackBerry phones unless they are using OS6 (or have installed a 3rd party browser) and no simple devices like most older phones.
oh ya, I didn't know that I don't see why they can't just make a stripped down version of the archives and allow posting/logging in
I didn't realize it either until I came across this. Yeah, that is kind of what I thought they were going for... a basic style that would work on any device (including 'dumb' phones) while leaving it up to admins to decide if they want to add a lot of graphics & the such to it. Treating a mobile style as a mobile "app" is a bit of an over kill if it means that the majority of mobile devices out there can't even use it. I was holding off on using something like the mobile style from Dartho (over at vB.org) but it looks like that is something I may need to explore.
About goddamn time. Users shouldn't have to go to the App Store just to browse the forums properly on their iPhone.
waste of resources so they can sell more. VB should be focusing on their product which is the forum rather then trying to upsell addons I will never use...what a waste...
The vB Mobile Style is free and comes as a standard item of vBulletin (you have to go into your ACP to install the new style). It is the vB Mobile Suite that costs money as an optional add-on, not this.
