Everything I said there was true. Try and apply it now several years later in a different context and its going to look quite the opposite.

Have to wonder sometimes what an individual could be thinking to throw out a case like this one....the fees charged by two banks and a law firm.

Be astounded as liberal Ariana Huffington espouses tea party values and defends the group against the scurrilous allegations of racism being perpetuated by Tavis Smiley and his cronie Dr. Cornel West.

If you can filter through the idiocy and name calling put out by the pro latino illegal immigration advocate, and the blatant hypocrisy of Smiley and West, who actively host and campaign for something called the "black agenda" while calling others racist, it's rather surprising to see how many common complaints these people share with the Tea Party. If they weren't so arrogant and hateful, I imagine they could make valuable assets to the Tea Party movement in their rally against corruption in Washington.

 

You know this because........

 

Watch the video. My statement is one of opinion, but I think it is an opinion easily arrived at. I'll cite some examples.

1) Reference to the tea party people as white people siting on their couches watching sitcoms. The statement is derrogatory for a variety of reasons, but the race based nature of it would cause someone to lose their job if it were applied to a person of color.
2) Agreement with the tea party that corruption in government and cronie capitalism are a problem, but sour faces, disdain and actual booing from the students of George Washington who attended this event everytime their name is mentioned. Its hard for that to come across as anything but hatefulness toward what almost every poll puts the ideology of 45% of Americans, except, its not the ideology they hate. On many fronts they agree with the ideology. What does that leave?
3) Statements by the pro-illegal immigration woman citing the tea party movement as a "White upper-middle class movement", and that in the pejorative. I personally disagree with the characterization, but lets examine it. In other parts of the discussion, they talk about these people being racists, and white folk watching sitcoms(poor white people?). They need to make up their mind who these people are, before digging out any insult they can throw at them. Also, do the people who make up a movement make the movement bad based on their financial status or the color of their skin? If so, we need to start bashing Jon Stewarts rally to restore sanity for the same reasons. Would it be OK to denigrate a movement, regardless of the cause, with words like "Its just a bunch of mexicans" or "just a bunch of black people"? Why is it ok to bash people who are marching for principals these people mostly believe in, just because those who march are white?
4) Numerous allegations by the panel that the slogan "take our country back" is a racist slogan referring to whites taking back the country from minorities.

This is just a short list, but watch the video for yourself and tell me if you don't come off with the same opinion. You'll find the commentary rife with the word "Populist", an elitist term used to talk about the "simple uneducated people". Its used with regularity in connection with Palin, and Chris Mathews has actually gone the extra mile on more than one occasion to spell it out for us. "Hey, I get populist movements I do. Just don't try and tell me you are educated!". That is what most people call arrogance.

If people needed a college degree to get behind a cause, nearly every last union, equal rights, and minority rights march in the last century would have had to have been canceled. Does it really take an education to point out our politicians are selling us down the river, a point which nearly the entire panel agrees with?

 

So Tea partiers, tell us about you trailer parks other places white trash come from.. ;D

Funny thing is, many of the guys in this discussion have posted pictures in the Pics of DP members thread... you see them at work, on vacation, out doing various hobbies and activities, at their homes, etc.

Then there's the ones that keep saying others here live in abject poverty (hello Gworld, Helvetti, et al). Oddly, those seem to be a bit shy about posting pics. Did you girls join the witness protection program or is there some other reason to hide your RW existence?

Funny how those of us that are very public and never have anything to hide are the ones labeled white trash, or live in "trailers" is it? I do own a trailer. Maybe this is what Gworld was referring to?
