Mobile Number Portability is finally happening in India.
As per the TRAI rules at cost involved would be Rs. 19 and you need to stick to one service provider for minimum of 3 months.

So anyone of you will be changing your service provider.
I personally use Vodafone and quiet happy with there services.. .

This is a good step taken by TRAI.

And I am very sure that there would be rate cut in postpaid charges by the service provider about 25 to 40%, also the customer would be getting good quality services.

The customers would feel like King now :)

    Yes you are right..
Now since the customer is free to choose any service provider then only point of difference / selling point would be better services at a cheaper rate..
The customer will benefit from this!!

Airtel recently made a severe issue in West Bengal circle. In connection with identity verification for very old prepaid connections, they sent SMS to subscriber and immediately blocked all incoming/outgoing calls. It was the big festive season of Durga Puja in West Bengal and there was a 4/5 days holiday there. Airtel did it right on the 1st day of the festive season. Hundreds and thousands of subscribers remained blocked, puzzled as to why Airtel needs to block services to verify identity.

As you know guys, blocking communication is in same level as a crime but Airtel did it recklessly without caring for its subscribers who were long time customers. Airtel didn't care people's festive time and the ongoing holidays. Imagine senior citizens, many old and sick people badly need their phones in times of emergencies. Relatives abroad couldn't reach their family members via phone. When I came down on Airtel with a very harsh blog post, Bharti Airtel managers started calling me to take back my post. So you see? They know they did something wrong!

Airtel said it's government policy to obtain identity verification. Yes, good enough but did government ask Airtel to do it in 1 day? Did government tell Airtel to block people's communication services without giving them a fair time to submit papers? Call center staff had no answer about these questions. To my knowledge, Vodaphone - DoCoMo - Idea - Aircel every operator obtained id verification papers but none of them blocked people's mobile calls without giving a fair period of time to submit papers.

My entire family uses Airtel numbers since decade now. Airtel is superb no doubt about it. But after this evil move from Airtel, YES, I'll get some numbers shifted to other operators. I cannot rely on such a devil operator anymore who may block my entire family's communication without any consideration. I don't agree to land up in trouble by remaining faithful to one single operator - no matter how superb operator they may be - specially after seeing this incident in my circle. Its a lesson and I thought I must share with you all.
