First of all get a domain name, a hosting account and install wordpress. That's if you're really serious about it. I stay away from most blogspot blogs myself. The place is packed with splogs and all kinds of useless "sites", so as a rule I don't comment or link to them. There are VERY few exceptions to my rule. So, first step: get a domain and start blogging seriously. Then you'll see traffic and TRUST from your readers. It will show them you're serious about it and not just another hit and run blog on blogspot. Forum and blog commenting are excellent ways to drive some free traffic. don't stop using them. And, as others said: if you can
t get traffic from the search engines, maybe you're doing something wrong

One of my blog without any keyword research, backlinking, promotion ... is doing very good (from only content adding)in google for long tail keywords which ii would have never thought

I only follow basic seo for this blog and nothing special. Which includes title, tagging, meta keywords, and nicely setting categories and permalinks

Yes, get a real domain and create some really good articles. Get to a base number of articles. If you don't like to write, hire someone here who is good at it. Get that base number of articles out there fast and then do a certain number a week for awhile.

I have a blog where I created 25 articles on personal development during one summer. Then I fear that I just let it be for nearly a year. Today, I still get about 50 uniques a day. Not a big deal of course, but I did no seo, no keyword searches and probably fewer than 100 comments on other sites within my blogs niche. But still I pull traffic. The age of a site makes a difference too.

Having read back through a lot of these posts I am inclined to agree that maybe a change of topic. Perhaps transfer that site to a real domain name. Have an article a week or a month created for you. Be patient I have seen it said many places that google values the age of your site in their calculations. Then start a blog about something where you have some expertise.

I have become convinced that the hardest place for a newbie to make money on the web is writing the MMO or SEO blogs. There are 1000s of people with real expertise selling that expertise at top dollar. The rest of us need to focus on what we really enjoy writing about.
