PC101 Computer Forum - FOR SALE

    Hey y'all,

I'm thinking I don't have as much time as I need to properly develop PC101 ... and not have it take years! :p

    1. 2006 Traffic

    2. I tried to monetize from the beginning but after reading the advise of more experienced forum owners/admins on AdminFusion, I backed off. EDIT: Adsense is actually 'bout $2.53/month.

    3. Staff consists of myself and one other. I've made him aware of a potential sale but haven't heard back from him yet. I'm fairly certain he'll stay and I'm happy to stick around for a time also.

    4. I'm selling everything! Domain name... license... everything!

So, if anyone is interested.... I'm looking for offers in the low - mid $xxxx range. The domain name alone is a doozy! :)

    Thanks!

    Lyte

An unmonetised forum with 350 members ... $5k? Am I missing something?

That would mean you are valuing the domain at ~$4.5k ...

Sorry PC101 but I was thinking the same thing :(

Makes me wonder what my PC Support forum is worth (9,000 members, 70,000 posts, 15 staff, 4million hits per month, c4k uniques per day)>?

You have waaay overpriced this I'm afraid....

I think the domain name IS quite valuable. Short, memorable, and describes the site wel. Plus its a pagerank 4 domain. I could see the domain fetching low $XXXX or high $XXX to the right buyer. But, thats just my opinion.

    On sedo:
    umpc101.com 10,000 $US
    mobilepc101.com 10,000 $US
    ultramobilepc101.com 10,000 $US

One thing I did notice is that you have HORRIBLE searh engine results. I typed "pc101.com" in google and you were the last result on the page. OUCH!

    Get a professional appraisal :)

A site is only worth what someone will pay for it. Not a penny more.

The fact that sedo lists ultramobilepc101.com for 10k should tell you how much you should rely on those ridiculous estimates.

I couldnt agree more. Just citing some examples on why I would get a professional appraisal and what comparative domains are listed at.

    You are correct Sir! :)

I've asked around ... of more experienced domainers than I.... and the consensus is that the domain alone is worth low $ xxxx.

After the domain name, one must then consider the value of the license, skin, PR, current membership, time, effort...etc...etc. So, I don't think low-mid $xxxx is really asking a lot.

Also, according to the experienced Admins I've talked to, going after the money if a classic noob mistake when starting a forum. The site isn't trying to earn money... not yet anyway. ;)

I'm not desperate to sell so if I must wait for just the right buyer, I'm happy!

As for the search engine results... yeah, I know! I'm working on it but time is short and my SEO skills are minimal! :(

    Lyte

p.s. Adsense is actually 'bout $2.53/month.

    Hey Omega,

    I appreciate the offer! :)

I'm getting the feeling I'm not supposed to sell this thing but rather I'm to keep at it! I was going to edit my OP but that's not available to me any longer. So...

At this point my game plan is to upgrade everything (skin & VB), add new Moderator(s) and hopefully find a partner to help with the marketing/development.

I've not posted on asking for Mods or a partner but if anyone has interest in either of these areas feel free to PM me! :D

If you decide to sell for closer to $1000 I may be interested.

    Cheers,
