The liberals are still working on their platform.

Thus far, it has only one item:

    1. Everything is George W. Bush's fault.

If you ask me, yes. If you ask an irrational hippie, then no.
Depends on your priorities. Each country has its own interest.
    Depends on the situation.
You should rather ask a high ranking millitary official about this then laymens on this forum.

    2) Only as an absolute last resort.
    3) No. Also including imaginary WMDs that Bush and Rumsfeld told us about in 2003.
    4) N/A

This is how I feel at the moment:

1 + 2. If the majority of a democracy legitemately vote an overwhelming majority over the decision to go to war, then it's their decision, but I think it's not acceptable.

3 + 4. I think it's not, and that all countries around the world should disarm those types of weapons.

    5. I'm Male, from England and I suppose you could say I'm liberal, or socialist. But I prefer to label myself as an "Anarcho-Nihilist" - I try to follow Buddhist teachings, and therefore, I would rather die myself than kill anyone whether it be at the time of war or not. Also, if I could sacrifice myself in order to prevent war or death, I definately would. Come to think of it, I'd die for anyone that has a valid reason :) Next elections I'm voting Green :)

Also, am I the first proper "liberal" to answer here?

    Om mani padme hum.

There might be some on this board...

I think it is important to ask laymen as well since many live in democracies and will vote. In a representative government, the laymen do inform their representatives regarding such policy matters.

In America, if the majority believed war was always wrong and that all WMDs should be abolished, they could elect officials (Congressmen, Sentaors, and the President) that would adhere to that kind of thinking/policy.

Democracy isn't perfect, but it sure beats a dictatorship.

    1. Is it ever acceptable to go to war?
    Yes

    2. If yes, under what circumstance(s)?

If consequences of not going to war would be worse than going to war.

    3. Is it ever acceptable to use a weapon of mass destruction?

    Yes.

    4. If yes, under what circumstance(s)?

In a perfect world, I wish all weapons of mass destruction were non-existent.
But, let's just say what if we were at war with another country like korea or Iran and we had knowledge without a doubt that they were planning on striking with a nuclear weapon...or perhaps if we were fighting a bloody battle for years and years with no end in sight.(Continuing to send over an endless stream of young soldiers to fight and lose there lives)

    5. Please list your gender/country/political bias (conservative, liberal, etc.)

I consider myself as basically a liberal, but I answered more like a republican (scary). I guess the bottom line is I believe in peace and I care about other countries...but when push comes to shove I will protect my family and loved ones before anyone else. I am a female in the US.
