Sticky thread sponsorship

Only in the buy/sell/trade area, maybe you can sell stickies. Priced at say, $20/hour for each sticky? Sellers would appreciate this. The higher up the thread, the more views it receives...

This is why I love DP. He isn't greedy with money how other forums like this are.

    ++ Deadlock.

That is also the one big reason people have donated so much to Digitalpoint.

Quite true. Love DP for it. Once DP introduces money to be listed for sticky, or simply just to be listed, that introduces accounting and a whole lot of headaches and we do not want this place to be another Site Point. :)

I think Shawn wont bother accounting.. he might develop a piece of script and let it handle itself. But yeah we dont need thes stickies anyway..

Per hour? Are you rich or something?
I would say $20 per week or per 5 days or so :)

Well otherwise everyone would be stickying their threads. $20/hour sounds fair for a thread wants max attention.

WebhostingTalk charges $25/week per sticky thread in the graphic design related forums
And they only allow 1 sticky per forum and per week.
So i guess limiting the amount of stickies per forum would be a good solution if Shawn changes his mind (let's hope not) :)

Yeah, I agree with Shawn and with the rest who posted here. You can't buy a reputation/respect/Top position here on DP and that's why I love it, and not just because it's free (I won't mind paying few bucks to this forum, it totally deserves it)!
If your auction is really worth it, it will stay on top even without being sticky.

    Go go DP!!!

Well, maybe paying for stickies would not be that good because of the differentiation from SitePoint, but it does sometimes seem like some sort of an intervention is needed in BST forums because for some people it is becoming almost unusable.

Due to sheer amount of topics being posted there it is just getting harder to get noticed, that's all..

I'm not sure what could be the best solution, maybe some extra forums or something.. What do you guys think?

So make it easier for 10, and harder for 990?

I am still getting more sales here on DP, then i do on any other site.

I agree, keep this community-milking away from DigitalPoint; the last thing people around here need is for DP to become a disgraceful, money-grabbing waste of time like Sitepoint... not that I feel strongly or anything :p
