Zune is launched!!! (bye bye iPod?)

that's a good point, that's what they did with the xbox after all

if they did that, I might even buy one

 

I am anxious to try this new Zune. I like the bigger screen than the iPod, that will be an advantage. It will also be a radio too, which is nice.

 

I do think Microsoft is wasting money. They want to dominate every area, but bad things this time is that they can't beat ipod as last time they beat netscape.

Microsoft shall focus on software, though they have hardware department.

 

Our generation can't easily be bought by a name... except if you are myspace.

 

I wouldn't be so sure. Look at all the knock off crap that begins with an "i" or "e" these days. The masses are not that sophisticated and/or just don't care.

As a matter of fact, if you want proof then look at the iPod itself. The Creative Zen walks circles around it ever way imaginable, but the iPod outsells it by far. Why? Marketing. Hype. Nothing more.

 

I have an ipod and a Zen - personally i find the iPod better in terms of sound quality and battery life (the battery is a year and 9 months old) - my zen discharges easily; is a pian to sync and the sound quality is nowhere near that of my iPod

 

and thats what we look for in a MP3 player

 

Doesn't anyone like The Creative Zen?
I have the Version M and am going to get the new W real soon.

As far as I am concerned it is the best player out there.

 

the feature of Zen which is i like more is that it plays various video formats ( like .dat / .avi ) which is currently not supported by apple ipod . but still ill stick with the apple .

 

but will it play the iPod video format?

 

It will be interesting to see how it compares to the ipod in market share.

People think its trendy to have an ipod. I can't remember when it was every trend to have a piece of microsoft kit.

BTW does anyone know when its to be released in the uk, i heard possibly a year from now but i snapped up a few .co.uks anyway

 

you need to convert the files ( other formats ) to play them on the ipod ( vieos ) and so not sure why a person will convert if he owns a crative zen which can easily playthose files ( zen is more like a virtual hdd ) . sry dunno much about zunes if you were referring to it .

 

I own a Zen Vision:M as well, and I don't see any point to change to an iPod or Zune.
But if I had to choose between iPod and Zune, my vote would've gone to Zune for sure.
I am not the kind of person choosing the better known and most popular name, I go for the player with the best specs

 

Zune will propably get high notes as it's the 1st widely available player with WiFi. My favorites are still Sony players for exceptional build quality.

Can anybody tell me what is the price set for new Zune in your country? Is it available in India?

It will cost around 249$ ... and i guess its not available in India at the moment .

 

if it's not available in india, will you still be able to get it through eBay?

 

The only reason I would consider buying one is because they have it in brown....Since its such a terrible color..i'm sure its gonna be discontinued after a while......I'm also not too sure about how this wireless thing is gonna work?? Am I gonna be allowed to share music whith who I feel?

 

it is too heavy compared to an ipod. but the screen is worth the buy
