Can someone please tell me, is 000webhost.com not allowing their free hosting to signups from Indian or other non-US IP Addresses? I tried twice, both the times account status reads "verification in progress". But, just due to curiosity when I tried with a free VPN using US IP Address, my account was instantly setup. This forces me to ask, is 000webhost.com open to only selected countries?
Possibly, but what difference does that make? It isn't, as your title suggests, not for Indians, but it is for anyone whose IP is not in the US as the contents of your post suggests. They are a private company and can put any restrictions on who they host as they want as long as it doesn't break any law. We also offer free hosting to local non-profit organizations, and we often provide free hosting including full support, dedicated systems, and specialist set-ups for commercial companies in return for a share of online sales, but we'll only do that for companies in the UK as it makes the legal basis of any relationship easier to manage. I don't know the answer to your question, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did restrict their free hosting to US only companies and I wouldn't see anything wrong with that.
Nowhere did I mention about legality or they're doing something wrong. Since restrictions, if any, are not laid down in writing, it will misguide people. Let me add another point here. My signup from an Indian IP was only after I received an invite from the 000webhost admin; after I signed up, I didn't get an account. When I tried to ask the admin why this happened after his invite, I got no reply. Many people will consider this as bad manners if an admin invites someone and then denies the stuff for which he is inviting.
I already mentioned: When I tried to ask the admin why this happened after his invite, I got no reply.
I have had signed up with them once a long time ago and it was no problem anyway. I am not US so I think the restriction may just be pushed on lately. I think not only Indian but every countries except US could sign up, does mean they have been spammed several times beyond they could handle. So the easiest way is just prevent any signing from spam countries. P.S. I am wondering if US never spammed their host? I do not think so.
