I need to get a new mobilephone to perform more web tasks on, like checking & replying emails, light surfing, and maybe even read ebooks when I'm bored. I can't decide if I should get an android phone or an Iphone. I like the iPhone because it's got really good apps and is easy to use, but I also hate it because of how limited it is in terms of customization. But it's got a lot of great games too. Some friends have been telling me that Android is getting better and the apps are growing, but I haven't really had much experience with it. From what I've seen it's pretty good, but lacking in games and development... Any android users want to share their experiences?
If you want something that is more hands on and powerful, get the android - If you like the simple tasks an iphone can do (easy to use) then that may be the better option for you Personally, I would not get an iphone because of AT&T, but Verizon just announced they will be selling iphone this year, so that may change my mind =)
I'm also deliberating about whether to get an iPhone. From what I hear it is definitely the best all round phone to get despite it's software limitations. I wouldn't rush yet though because the iPhone 4GS is bound to be released in the next couple of months and even the iPhone 5 in the next year or two so it might be worth holding out a little while longer and maybe settling for a more affordable phone.
+1 Agreed, infact just yesterday I got rid of my HTC Dream (Android) and got an Xperia X10, which is, of course, Android. I had the option of getting an iPhone for a much lesser price, but turned it down because I'm not an Apple fan personally.
I have an Samsung Galaxy S Captivate (Reason for my Name xD) and I also own an Ipod Touch, I can tell you the Iphone is what it is an upgraded Ipod touch, it is very bland and simple, But there are a lot of apps and well it's Apple... The reason I choose the Android S is well it's Android it's customizable like having a home screen with facebook feeds and email feeds, the Android Market is no where close to the App store but with time i believe it could be comparable. Atm if your looking for an every day phone go with the iPhone, if you want to trade in the Apps for Hardware go with the Android phones, mostly every Android phone out there is better then the iPhone in terms of specs.
Thanks for the great feedback, I'll most likely get an Android phone then. Will get an iphone for the missus instead so I still access to both platforms.
I think Android suits you more. Because my friend has buy Samsung galaxy android,it comes with more than 2 lakh application including your required application.
Right now I'd take an iPhone over the Android simply because it has more apps. I wouldn't be surprised if the Android overtakes the iPhone in a couple of years.
Are you talking about the samsung galaxy tab? I've got my eye on that one, but some of my friends tell me to wait for the Motorola Zoom. It looks awesome!!!
Yeah, once Android gets it's marketplace and purchasing process sorted out, I won't be surprised if that happens. One big problem that Android developers face is the many different hardware limitations from different manufacturers, which is something iPhone doesn't have to deal with. That's so true, iPhones just look and feel great, although my old iPhone 3g had quite a few cracks on it from heavy usage even though I never dropped it. HTC and Samsung has been building really good quality phones these days though, so it's just a matter of time before they catch up.
