These messages does not indicate any kind of religious attribute. I get them all the time. Some are 1. Send this message to 100 people or your father dies. 2. Send this massage to 100 people or god will fail you in exams. 3. send this message to 100 people so that someone donated money to this child suffering from cancer which requires 18 lack. Rumours are that these messages are initiated by Airtel etc so that they profit and these messages are on every topic so nothing can be AT LEAST argued upon on these messages.
^^ But the point is that these messages become viral because religious people decide the chance of being blessed in "4minute in Jesus name" is worth their time and money.
I get the religion side completely, the content was The fact that 18 people forwarded 'that particular message', is exactly what Helvetii's point is and it's absolutely correct as usual. Nothing to do with the other types, even though they do exist. He received a pile of messages from religious folk seeking their reward, based on the message. Whether or not the phone company started it is irrelevant to the point that the religious folks receiving it are obviously sending them on for the reward.
Halvetti, We both know sms is not a prayer. If you've got problem with religious people, then have the courage to get rid of those contacts instead of acting like a two-faced hypocrite.
As i said this incident is not enough to take a conclusion on anything. It can be that his same circle of freinds send those messsages to each of them and he gets the same message from his freinds and it can also be 3000 people won't have forwarded it but 18 would have. As i said you never know and this is not enough to determine the conclusion.
Man I never got that SMS..thought I sometimes get similar types of messages. I hit "delete" and have never died after doing so
