I think you need to rephrase your wording from "you must use" to "may want to consider". You do not have to use any plugins at all. The less the better, as far as I am concerned.

Also, how did you determine popularity? Some of those plugins I have never heard of before. Then you are missing the truely popular pseudo-must-have plugins such as Akismet, Contact Form 7, WP Super Cache, and WP-DB-Backup to name a few.

Using so many plugins at a time results slow loading of your wp blog so only use few of them which you think really useful to you.

    DON.

I agree with Dodger, there is no 'must use', using plugins depends on the requirement of a blogger.
I never use WP Super Cache, instead, I use the .htaccess file types caching; I also use gzip compression code in header.php
I am trying three new plugins, Broken Link Checker, MySearchTermsPresnter and SEO Booster - anyone using these? I'd like to know your experiences/opinions on those.

So these are popular by your accounting, not by any known polls or studies. And the fact that one of the plugins that you are actively promoting has nothing to do with it.

Suitable for all blogs? Don't think so.

Which of these plugins are free? What does each plugin do? Is there a plugin for live video transmission? I want to set up a website for my cacadu parrot and have a live video transmission by his cage onto the website.

    Thanks.

Not only is it suitable, I would recommend it. I would also say that it is indeed "popular".

I would say that the All-in-one SEO plugin is popular. Would I recommend it, not necessarily. It would depend on the current theme you are using and the individual who would be using it. Just because it is a great tool, doesn't mean you know how to use it properly.

Basically I hate lists, Maish. Your list says these are popular and must haves, but you say nothing about the plugins, what they do, what makes them popular, and whether or not you trust the plugins enough to recommend them to other people. I am going to go out on a limb, confidently, to say that half of those plugins in your list are probably garbage, badly-written, and may wind up screwing the pooch.

I agree with you here. Take a look at #17 and then the link in the OP sig. This is blatant plug for his plugin.
