alexa rank is just a statistic...look only at the impressions you are getting and the gains..dont loose focus on that.. goodluck
Alexa rank? Worthless for me. It's a very non trust-able ranking system. People can easily get to the top 10,000 in several days without any real visitors.
I trust in Alexa rank because they often update their ranking info. And their ranking is based on real visitors for sure. If you see some websites which fake Alexa ranking, please show some sample. There maybe "Alexa Ranking Fake Checking Tools" in the future.
I'm not saying there is fake Alexa Rank. I'm saying you could easily manipulate Alexa Rank to "show off". Ask 20 of your friends install Alexa toolbar. Ask them to surf your site by hitting refresh at least 20 times a day. The more the merrier. You could get into top 10,000 in no time. For honest people Alexa rank could be quite an indicator. It has one big flaw though. The visitors should have Alexa Toolbar installed on the browsers. So it does not represent all of your visitors and of course not how heavy your traffic is. If you have Asian or African websites, you might have poor alexa rank although you have 1,000,000 visitors a month. Because mostly people here in asia don't know what alexa is and hate any kind of "suspicious" toolbar. So, I don't believe it because it's mainly used to "show off" or gain "trust" from visitors to buy. For me Alexa rank is like those old "visitor counter". It may say 1,000,000 but 999,880 of them might be the webmaster himself.
Hahaha. Yeah, mostly. However, I've found one that is very very very extremely super useful, and it's free. It's so powerful that Alexa closed it down to prevent any negative effect of the usage. Won't tell you though, it's already down and not available.
Better to look at the google page rank and even better than that is to look at your own traffic statistics by yourself - they don't lie or skew the truth
Google Page Rank? lol Maybe last year. They rarely update that. 500,000's isn't bad as far as I know. My website is about a month old, and it is in the 500,000's too. Compete ranking? I have no idea how that works. I signed my company up for it like 5 months ago, and the companies site still isn't even ranked even though it is a PR4 page. How did you get rank period in Compete?!
I've always been curious, How does Alexa figure out how much traffic sites get in order to rank them? =/
i would trust alexa more than complete which is less prolific. overall, i'd use 'em as indicators but not as absolutes in terms of value of information.
The lower you go the more accurate it gets, anything over 100k changes all the time based on if you have the alexa toolbar installed so it doesn't really matter
Alexa rank is a joke. I play with it like a kid play with his food. compete rank is a lot better since they count a visitor once per month. No matter how many times that visitor visits your site.
Yes, i agree. i don't think alexa rank is valid and representing our traffic rank. my blog is currently 300K on alexa. but my traffic is not good enough. But Nobody here explain about Compete Rank. mine is 0 compete rank although it have 300K Alexa
