Are you kidding? Half the posts in this thread don't make sense, they're just half-baked personal opinions, or simple insults

How hard is it to understand that you believe in eternal things?

Don't make assumptions. "Things" is a very general classification. I never said that I believe in "eternal" things. I said that everything does not necessarily need a creator. Eternity also implies that things do not end.

If something doesn't need a creator then where did it come from?

Agreed. I'm happy just being. The idea that something created me and watches me and will do something with me when I die seems like a very convenient way to have something to blame when things go wrong. The whole "don't worry, everything happens for a reason" mantra.

Or evolution, which some would consider to be the opposite of god.

    The Sun creates energy.

That's why I worship the Sun.

We're having human sacrifices next week. It's will be one hell of a party.

You should come, or your crops will fail.

Does it really matter? If this being has shown us power, wisdom, justice and love along with patience and kindness why should we worry about where this being came from. Why do you want to know?

Look at the order of everything right to the atomic level. Everything has a formula to it. It could not have been created by chance. Jesus also said in the bible that just because u say lord lord it does not mean u will enter enter his fathers kingdom. I was always taught by my sunday school teacher that i would be surprised at some of the people i will see in heaven if i ever make it there.

Please do not take offence at this but you might be surprised at what the Bible says about who is going to heaven and who is not.

You might want to read the following verses:

    Rev 14:1 & 3
And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads

    John 11:11
He said these things, and after this he said to them: “Laz′a·rus our friend has gone to rest, but I am journeying there to awaken him from sleep

Very important verses above. Why so?

    Col :)

A Creator is the one who is everlasting and is free from Maya (illusion)

    Commentary of Sankaracharya:
    http://www.celextel.org/notes/notessutra.html

I-i-1: Brahman does exist as a well-known entity – eternal, pure, intelligent, free by nature and all -knowing and all-powerful. For from the very derivation of the word Brahman, the ideas of eternality, purity etc., become obvious, this being in accord with the root brmh.* Besides, the existence of Brahman is well known from the fact of Its being the Self of all; for everyone feels that his Self exists and he never feels, “I do not exist”. Had there been no general recognition of the existence of the Self, everyone would have felt, “I do not exist”.

[*The root brmh means growth and suffix man, added to it, signifies an absence of limitation (in expanse). So Brahman derivatively means that which is absolutely the greatest. And eternality etc., follow as a matter of course from this limitlessness.]

{“A deed is held to be dharma that has no association with undesirable consequence even from the standpoint of its result, it being the cause of bliss alone.”
