    If you're just starting off a website - then fan pages are not going to do you ANY GOOD at all! They will help later down the line but it doesn't hurt to create one.
    Have a read over here, it will help you answer most of your questions - Increase Website Traffic

    It as a profile any about where have information about a particular topic any about. If you like that it means it's a like for that information with is appear on that particular page.

    It's the best way for marketing on facebook. Just make sure you market a special thing that exists like a website, a product or yourself. Don't make fanpages as a way for marketing any kind of products otherwise you will loose your publishing rights and they turn your page into a community page. (that'S what happened to two of my pages)
