what's up with the WordPress spamming increase????

    did you start submitting RSS feed to those feed burner site? My spamming increase a lot right after that

    Hmm, now that you mentioned it I noticed it as well. But fortunately Akismet does what its supposed to do :D I'd have to disable commenting or worse, shut down my sites, were it not for Akismet

    i've always been running the RSS feeds, and always submitted to feedburner

    i wonder if there's a new botnet being harvested

    install Peter’s Anti-Spam Image Plugin for Wordpress. Easy to install. I also used to get daily 30-40 spam comments earlier but now, this image verification plugin blocks all types of auto-generated comments. ;)

    requiring people to register to be able to make a comment on your blog is a good way to avoid spam imho.

    I have also seen a huge rise in spam over a number of blogs that I have.

    Also try http://akismet.com/ - very agressive spam catcher.

    As your blog increases in Google PR and Alexa, it's more attractive to sploggers.
    i notice you're PR4 and alexa 393k.
    that's a pretty attractive target.

    i use akismet and i manually approve all comments.

    but stuff like the image verification and simple math plugins make it more difficult, but doesnt completely kill the sploggers...

    no point to ban them, i find it's more useful to spend the time generating more quality content.
