Careful now, I never made the claim that 4th of January is the real New Years day.

You are all in denial that New Years day is nothing more than a pagan invented holy day (holiday) :D :D :D

Atheists, just have a habit of taking different pagan and religious customs and use that to formulate their own way of life, then they call it "secular".

    I'm out of here.

New year is just another excuse to get together and party, and we all love a good party. The start of a new year is something to celebrate, an excuse to say out with the bad & in with the good. It's good for the soul. :)

Beer's the drink you drink on new years only when someone stole the whiskey, after all, it only comes about once a year you know, it needs the good stuff to party that night. How can you possibly renew yourself if you don't get the most from the old self first, getting it totally plastered so you can submit to the change? :)

Well, we don't usually drink hard liquor in my place. Beer is more popular here. Especially Red Horse, nothing beats a strong beer like that. On a side note, I don't usually drink whiskey, rhum or vodka. Hard drinks just don't work well on me. :p

    Red Horse, a Philippine favorite.

They even have created a pill for that.

@Bushranger - cheers, I must have missed that. I still don't know /why/ he did the name change, do you? I mean, specifically? Just sick of his crappy name, or what? Lol.

@Grimm - I'm big on beer too, but I've got a ridiculously high tolerance for alcohol so spirits suit me fine too.

    Night all!

You are a complete morons. Atheists are free -- we can celebrate whatever we want. I can celebrate Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, and both Eid's if I want. Perhaps this year I'll visit some Shiite friends and celebrate Ashoura.

It seems that freedom just completely confuses you.

Praise be! This is a cause for celebration! :p

Do they hurt themselves? Looks like it's fake blood to me. One baby looks bored, the other looks pretty happy as if he just had his face painted.

It's real, every year they go out in the streets and cut themselves with knives.

To put it short the Shia's are an occult founded by a Jew.

    :)

yeah they hurt themselves but not seriously. just some small cracks in their heads that would heal soon.
don't want to justify that but we can see it as a believers action that you can see in some other religious parties too.
Ashura has many ritual ceremonies and this one that call "Qameh Zani" is an scary ones that banned by some Mullahs as Khomeini.
Ashura has some entertaining rituals too but anyway it is a mourning event.
