    hi, does anybody know if you can get directory plugins for wordpress like you can get for joomla? if so, which is best?

    Indeed, that is the product for wordpress people use, and I've seen a few good examples. But you also see people running a directory script alongside wordpress as well, as there is little benefit to using a plugin.

    I do not think this kind of software works. I mean they do nor survive for captcha clear ..

    I also would not prefer Directory submission through software, its Black Hat SEO- which is not good.
    Always use white hat- manual seo work - Manual directory submissions.

    Manual submission would be much better than using auto submitter, for sometimes the software can't pass the captcha

    I would recommend you use a separate software for web directory purpose over using Wordpress plugins if you are serious enough about directory. A specific web directory script such as phplinkdirectory is far more better in user interface and links management. Your directory will be spammed with a tons of invalid submissions and just directory plugin cannot handle most situation from my past experienced.

    Wordpress is a fantastic piece of software for blogging, and courtesy of some inventive plugins hundreds of other things, but IMO it's not great as a replacement for a directory script. If you're fixated on using WP - DirectoryPress I believe is the front-runner, but I'd consider weighing up all the options if you're serious about starting a directory.
