    That's odd. I'm not familiar with godaddy auctions. I know from other websites that if you bid then you have an obligation to proceed with the purchase once the auction is over.

    In my not so humble opinion, I would advise your friend not to get obscure extensions (nothing outside the top 4 extensions) and do not just take any old crappy 3D domain.
    3D will be a hot market... there is no doubt about that but it is based on technology. Technology is NEVER a long lasting market. Once a technology is developed its only a matter of time before that leads to some other device that takes it place. Its the natural flow of things.
    Personally I would only give 3D domains a 5-8 year window. They will really start to burn HOT here within the next year or so (and that would be the time to drop the names) and then you will see a gradual taper off of 3D domains until we reach that lull before the next big technology based domains.

    Just my opinion....
    Cheers

    Hello all,
    would much like to ask a few questions I have been considering a lot:

    "no glasses required 3d"
    To me it seems that one of the most interesting developments in 3d will be models that do not require glasses, and there have been more and more articles about this lately. Im curious about the value of 3d - glasses domains vs no glasses 3d? Obviously 3dGlasses.com is a great domain, and 3dWithoutGlasses.com probably worth much, much less. But do you think people in general are more interested in the latter product?
    I have 3dNoGlasses.com... the .info was taken and someone has developed 3dNoGlasses.it
    Also have brilloos3d.nl, brilloos = glasses-less. I think a cool logo can be made using brill:rolleyes:s3D.
    Does anyone have any good domains geared towards this idea?

    "using 3d as a noun"
    Is there value in using 3d as a noun, to make short domains? I have done this a few times (also in the examples above):
    new3d.co.uk
    free3d.nl

    regards, Daniel

    It depends on what you still have to renew? I just registered 2 expired domain names: 3DLiveStream.com & 3DliveStreaming.com -- Apparently they were registered by the same guy and he let them expire. I'm not sure if I did well by picking them up? worst case scenario is to let them expire in 2 years, but I'm sure by then I will know for sure.

    I own: NOGLASSES3DTV.COM
    As for NOUNS, I own a ton, but can not keep up with the the renewal fees. Check GODADDY for expired 3d nouns domains.

    Just sold 3DBakery.com for $500. Yeh!!! Good news for all of us. I did not even counter at SEDO as I needed the money for renewals. Spent it ALL on renewals of Geo Names and Tech Names. I hope they develop it into a 3D Bakery, where you can shop in a 3D World.

    I think I deserve more than hmmmmmmmmm and calling me a liar after all the time I spent here adding beneficial information to this forum.

    1) I made a mistake, I just sold bakery3d.com for $500 at sedo. Why would I even make up anything like that. It is downing the market as the name just dropped in 1/2. I only speak the truth. Even if you thought it was a fish story, you could have stated it differently; as I thought we were all friends.

    2) About a year ago I sold 3DBakery.com for $1000 and it is currently expiring which is very strange. I even tried to get it but someone else backordered it from GoDaddy. Check whois etc. to see who the owners are as they are no longer I.

    While I may visit the forum to read about what is happening regarding 3D Domain Names, I WILL NOT MAKE ANY MORE POSTS AS I DO NOT APPRECIATE THESE COMMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    hey Geek3d: even I, a total Newb, instantly remembered that you had previously posted about 3dbakery.com, and even I was suspicious of seeing it posted again. The fact that you had both 3dbakery and bakery 3d never occurred to me! Anyway, hope you don't quit writing as you are one of the reasons I joined this community - so I could try to talk to all you guys I had read so many posts by, and been inspired by!
    To be honest I was already a bit miffed by the whole 3d bakery thing in the first place. I remember you selling 3dbakery for 1k and 3dmobilephones for only 300 or 400 or so, and I remember thinking wtf? mobile phones makes way more sense than bakery!

    Cool btw you have noglasses3dtv...there is just no smooth 1 word way to say "no-glasses"; glasses-free; without-glasses....its all so long, and makes for ugly domains.....I do think people are going to google it more and more.

    I think 3dnoglasses.com looks pretty ugly, but at least it is direct. I can imagine it developed with a super simple logo like: " 3D. No glasses. "

    Hey JackL00711,

    Did you ever sell any domains yet? Which ones are you going to keep?
    I wanted to tell you, I like 3d knockouts better than 3d touchdown:

    knockouts = plural = better (the site has more than 1 clip, right?)
    " has multiple meanings (hot girls)

    In general, i think more people would go to a website to see people getting KO'd in 3d, than to watch a touchdown in 3d... I mean a touchdown is boring...usually a couple seconds of action maximum. Where as with a knockout, you can show a minute or more of fight leading up to the knockout.

    hey Ydsou,

    To me, making money on 3d domains does not make sense...yet. No one really has anything 3d yet: no phones, laptops, computers - almost no one even has a 3d tv or 3d games yet... The reason I bought any 3d domains at all was to invest in them: some of them I plan to just wait for years with before selling. I see the phrase "3d" as a gamble: maybe no one will even say 3d in the future, as it will be automatically assumed, and all 3d domains will be worthless... or maybe people will decide that they like "3d" because its nice and short, and more catchy than "holographic" or "autostereoscopic" etc.
    I don't see anyone making top dollar for a 3d domain before it becomes more clear that the term "3d" can be attached to everything. Also, I think the number of endusers is still very very small: No one will buy your domain unless they see tons of potential in it, and if that is the case, why not just hang onto it and develop yourself, like you said. In other words, to me it doesn't make sense to first take long shots on 3d, and then try to hedge those longshots right away... let it ride i say : )

    A quick update of my 3d list:

    free3d.nl
    3dgratis.nl (free 3d in Dutch)

    3doled.info

    * 3dtelly.net

    * a-r.es (augmented reality)

    * 3dtoys.de (longshot : ) )

    * in3d.be

    * oled3dtv.net

    * pc3d.eu

    *new3d.co.uk

    the ones with * I am willing to sell

    Adam, I'm sorry. 3dlivestream and 3dlivestreaming will be awesome, I think, if and when 3d starts streaming!
    I think you did good to pick them up, otherwise loads of people who would have... I just really dont get it though: why would someone reg those domains and let them drop? What was that person expecting? That within 1 year of registration everyone would be online in 3d?? No one even has 3d equipment yet, so of course no one is searching these keywords... It could be years before such a thing as 3d live streaming even exists... It makes no sense to abandon a domain so soon, unless the guy who dropped it knows something (like that in the future it will be called something other than "streaming", etc.
    I reg domains in Europe, and the hosting I use gives a discount when you reg. a domain for 5 years. More of a commitment, but for 3d I think its smart. I don't have to hope my domains will magically get "discovered" before they are ripe at all...
