Are automated tools like xrumer and scrapebox useful for white hat link building? As far as I can see, their main purpose is automated link spam. But they seem to have really good features for finding targeted forums and blogs. Is it worth it to buy one of these tools in order to find good relevant dofollow forums and blogs to post manually? Or can I get comparable results by simply improving my Google search skills?
Why would you ever punish yourself by posting manually? You can find any blog with your desire keywords with out those tools, so it doesn't make sense to pay for them and not use them.
Umm, because I don't want to be a spammer and risk my reputation? Because I want to post replies that are relevant to each particular post? Are these valid reasons? Am I missing something? Maybe these tools have emerged consciousness and are posting intelligent comments by themselves?
Never spam your own site mate, always spam feeder sites. If you are going to post replies that are relevant, then you don't need a bot to do something you can you do manually. xrumer is a blackhat tool to begin with. scrapebox can be used in both white hat and black hat way, just depends on how you use it as thee are few things you can do with it
You'll be hard pressed to use SB to find out if it's dofollow or not, but you can use SB to see if it's and auto-approve blog etc...
Well, tools are not marked as black hat or white what, if you would create spam post then it would be marked as black hat. If you are finding dofollow blogs through any software, then how would search engine know that you have found through software? But if you post through software then it would tracked by search engines.
Erm... if you were to scrape google for a load of URL's all posted at one particular keyword it would find that abit dodgy... I've been running scrapebox for 34 mins now and for the keywords 'photography' I've accrued 123267 URL's for wordpress type blogs... Thats abit spammy, hence why it's best to hide your IP and use Proxies. So yes SB is very much a BH tool, considering one of the foundingmembers of the forum 'Blackhat World' helped to code it. It was programmed for a very specific reasaon!
