Copyright Issues with Autoblogs?

I am having trouble understanding the legalities regarding autoblogs and copyright.

If I have a RSS feed on my site, does that mean someone else can legally display my content without my consent?

If I was to disable the RSS feed, would this stop autoblogs from taking my content?

Make sure your RSS feed does not display the entire post and you will actually gain traffic from other sources using it ;)

You can specify any terms and conditions to use the rss feed that you like. A feed is supposed to 'point' people towards your content by supplying snippets that other sites can post.

I've haven't seen a ruling anywhere but it would seem that by allowing an RSS feed to run on your site that you are by default granting reprint rights to whatever materials you include in the feed.

The cynic in me sees the feeds as a risk/reward proposition. Sure, some folks use the feeds and send traffic but others are also using the feeds as an alarm system. Find a great site to steal from, sign up for the feed and know when there's new content to "borrow".

The other thing I don't like about feeds is that it makes it extremely hard to build a community if most of your readers are reading your posts through a feed reader. My blog gets very little traffic but I have quite a bit more folks taking it on the feeds. Result - I feel like I'm blogging to no one and only spammers come to comment on the posts.

Autoblogs make me think of someone throwing a giant news papper into the wind just pages of trash with text all over them.

They are a means to an end. Usually to funnel traffic to a real project.

i think as long as the author of your article content don't find trouble from you or won't found duplicate by google, you can have no problem.

Use RSS feeds and remove posts if anyone complains and there is no such thing as a duplicate content penalty...

Just because a site provides you with RSS feed or embed source for videos etc does not mean you can display, aggregate, use, make money of the content as you see fit.
RSS feed and Embed is the for readers convenience and not to facilitate thieves.
Unfortunately, just by not publishing the RSS feed will not stop thieves from taking your content, they can still scrape it in other ways.
If you feel strong about it you can always DMCAed them

Gosh, how up to speed you are. Perhaps you'd like to show us just one example of a google search for a money making term where a site with nothing but duplicate content is in the top 10. Credit cards, dog training, acne, feel free newbioe.

Oh, you can't. Despite the fact that you so really really desperately want to believe that you can make money with duplicate content.

Duplicate content = waste of time / bandwidth / diskspace. OBVIOUSLY. I mean, imagine YOU are Google. why in hell would you rank a site stuffed with content that is available elsewhere on other higher PR sites??? I mean, WHY???

Cue 'but Yahoo has lots of duplicate content blah blah'. Yes it does. And if it ranks higher than the original for a piece of dupe, it's because it's a more important site in Googles eyes. My God, this is so simple, yet so many people so desperately want to believe it isn't true.
