Emergency services are now tied up and rush hour in the subway and the tunnels is beginning. All eyes are on what seems to be an "accident".

If they could, sure, or at least not against a building; but we don't know yet why it crashed, the pilot may not have had control.

Even with plane problems I still find it hard to believe it was not able to take the plunge in the river. Both my brothers are pilots and from what they tell me it needs some serious shit to not be able to at least steer it in a direction of your choice.

I'm pretty sure hitting the ground is not a direction of choice for a pilot, but it does happen. Most accidents are CFITs (controlled flight into terrain).

Anyway, at this point anything is speculation.
