How exactly does posting in the forums help on SEO? Every post we make if we have signatures that points back to our website, does this count as a backlink and is this it? Sorry to sound like a noob, I just want to make this clear once n' for all.
yes, it's counted as a backlink that's why people spamming on forums, to get backlink but mostly, forum have nofollow attribute on signature links but DP didn't have nofollow attribute
Here's me being honest as a fairly experienced webmaster: IT DOESNT. Sorry if I yelled. You see there are a bunch of people who think that every backlink will help there website. That's just not true. In fact forum links probably don't help your website at all. However that doesn't mean posting on forums is worthless. It actually has alot of benefits. Your a webmaster right? Im a webmaster? If you visited my website and thought WOW THIS IS USEFUL theres a chance that you might link to me. That link would be a billion times more useful if your website is any good. Basically, when you're on the forums try to genuinely help other webmasters and they help you by linking to you or many other ways. It doesn't happen that often to be honest but that's how it goes when the majority of people spam.
Forum signatures help to increase traffic and backlinks. If you can post good and useful post in forums, people who go through your threads will also check out your we site.
I am always use forum to increase my knowledge for my websites.. and other things are that k forum posting is beneficial to get good ranking via signature
You see the last three posts? Useless right? Don't take their advice man. Forum links are absolutely useless for making money. Your main goal should be to meet other webmasters who could potentially link out to your website. Don't be like this guy who put "ya forum helpsa alot in increasing he trafiic" just to get his 10 post to activate his signature box. If you won't do anything for you and you'll be wasting your time bud.
@cameron are you telling us to have "Did I help you solve your problem? Then help me by linking to my websites" on our signatures? why don't you remove those links on your signature then?
Are you trying to make an arguement without reading all of the facts? If you read what I said above I mentioned that forums are useless for backlinks ( FOR SEO ). However they are great for networking with other webmasters. Since 99% of the people who post here are webmasters I have the opportunity to tell them about my websites. If they find it useful then they might link to it. The traffic is worthless and they'll never buy anything. Hopefully they'll never click on the advetisements. Still they might link to me ( It's rare but sometimes they do ). And that's all my signatures about. To tell other webmasters about my website so they might link to it. Now please learn how to argue before making any contentions. I'm basically soliciting backlinks from other webmasters. If I help them then the chances improve from .01% to .02% lol. And I earned the right to do so. Since I'm actually one of the few people here who actually offer useful posts. I try to help as much as possible. Unlike those people who put the worst sentence possible for backlinks. It's ridiculous. I've seen you do it too. Don't waste your time. Seriously.
What facts??? those are not facts, those are your thoughts forum backlink are not completely useless for backlinks/SEO, it still counted as backlink even if it have a super low quality so that you may not realized the effect Google count every backlink to your site from page they can index(doesn't blocked by robot.txt, etc.) and don't have nofollow i don't think you really hope for that, otherwise you are hoping your visitor would click on your google ads it's true that only few people here posting useful posts,most people just spamming, but posting wrong facts aren't really useful
I guess you're not a lawyer... Anything pertaining to this entire conversation or previous conversations that effective this moment are material. In fact they are called material facts. If you're seriously here for just backlinks then I would seriously suggest not wasting your time. As I argued above the best part about forums is letting other website owners know that your website is there. Hopefully they'll link to you.

I agree with what you say about forum participation is great for networking with other webmasters and helping each other may have a chance to end up in linking. Conversion rate is another story, but my main objective is driving traffic through SEO. I guess my specific question is "Does google even consider forum signature as a backlink or do they get ignored?" If google do recognize forum signature as a backlink, it's at least a plus for SEO right? And yes, I do think people should not spam in forums and should genuinely help each other.
Yes it's a plus for SEO but if you are targeting high competition keyword, i don't think backlink from signature can help you much the best way to get backlink is having a great content so people will link to your site
No absolutely not and I can tell you from experience. You're wasting your time if your posting backlinks for SEO. Guaranteed.
Hello........... Forum Posting does matter for generating quality back links and increase traffic to your website...It is very important off page activity...
Forum is not only fro backlink its also useful for increase your knowledge...Some forum are no do follow but people posting there bse they get knowledge from that forum..
Forums helps in two ways , first forums links count as good backlink, also good forums signatures helps in getting good traffic.
Forum posting is a great way to get backlinks and traffic. When you post good threads, people see you site and link to your site or atleast click your site once from all over the world and you will get traffic and you already have a backlink on the forum.
