Is Julian Assange really guilty of sexual offences?

I am begining to think the sexual offences and accusation against WikiLeaks Editor in Chief was basically to nail him and prevent him from realeasing further cables to embarass US and international diplomats.
I wonder why the accusation was rasied again in November when he was about to release the 250000 cables he has?

A judge will decide that . He's prolly guilty since he does seem to be a total nut . IMHO he's as guilty as you're guilty of creating a duplicate thread .

Do you think it is the job of people like yourself to determine if he is guilty, or do you think countries like Sweden should use their legal system to make such determinations?

I think it is perfectly fine to theorise or come to some conclusions.

If the Swedish legal system is being coerced by politicians in Sweden who support U.S. officials in wanting him to be prosecuted and the only way that could be achieved is him being deported to Sweden then to the U.S.; then you can't really trust the Swedish system. That appears to be the reason as to why Julian Assange is fighting this in courts in the UK.

Of course it's fine to theorize. Here is a theory:

Assange could be a serial rapist and misogynist who has made his way through country after country abusing women. He may have raped numerous women in the UK already. If the guy can get political pressure to help cover up his crimes based on accusations of political pressure being brought to bear, perhaps he is guilty of a litany of other crimes (aside from espionage) that have not yet been brought to light. Use of the "These charges are obviously political" get out of jail free card would obviously be an enticement to commit more crimes.

Now that both you and I have presented our bullshit theories with absolutely no evidence behind them, what we have to fall back on is the tried and true legal system, established by democracies (will of the people) for this very purpose. He will have his day in court, and if he is guilty of rape, I hope you would wish a jail sentence on him as much as I do. If he is not, he will be set free or extradited to face whatever charges the US decides to level against him for his role in espionage.

Italy convicts 'U.S. agents' in CIA kidnap trial

Are you saying that Italy is not a democracy? What is your opinion about returning the convicted criminal to serve their time?

Does this mean I can put you down as a "Yes" you want Assange extradited to face his charges just like you would like those CIA agents extradited for their role in a military op sanctioned by the Italian government? Glad to hear it!

The reason you can theorize and the reason it make sense to theorize what the OP is thinking is because like he said. This issue has gone before the authorities before. They dismissed it. Now in light of the leak of over 250,000 classified documents, there is a warrant for his arrest by Interpol who list him along side murderers; because Swedish authorities decided to reopen the case.

... and if he isn't guilty or if British courts decide that Sweden hasn't provided sufficient evidence... then?

    He hasn't gone into hiding.

When he came to Britain his lawyers talked with Scotland Yard stating that Julian would cooperate with authorities... which he did and which is why he went to prison and then was granted bail.

Right he went to Sweden when they called him for questioning . He didn't hid in Britain until his layers decided it's better for him to go to the police .

They had full cooperation with the police in Britain on his whereabouts. If he wants to hide from all others; including the media he has that right. But a fact is a fact, the police knew where he was when he entered the country.

    http://www.allvoices.com/contribute...now-where-wikileaks-founder-julian-assange-is

His Lawyers have also stated that Julian would accept video conferencing in a Swedish embassy for questioning, but they have declined:
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11930488

Also another question. Before they reopened the case, why did the Swedish authorities not stop Julian Assange from going to another country when he was in Sweden? The timing here is very odd and important to think about, it is only after he released these cables that the warrant from Sweden was issued to Interpol.

Timing might be odd but then again criminal investigation don't have an exact schedule . As for video conferencing that's equal to nothing to the law . The police ain't your business partner .

So if 2 random women accuse you of rape in a random country can we expect you to catch the next flight to that place and not fight extradition? Fighting extradition to random banana republics or any country is a right. Seems like you don't support basic human rights. Tsk tsk.

Again I look at the "secret" leak and find nothing unusual . Secret cooperation is not public knowledge . This is why it's secret . To me Take-a-Leak is nothing more then someone making money while doing absolutely nothing good .

It does in this case. If you were Julian Assange, you would find this to be politically motivated. A case that was dropped and in light of releasing classified cables, a sudden warrant for your arrest for sex charges?

Questioning him through video conference is no different than having him in front of you. You can give him the questions and he can answer.

Why is it that he needs to be sitting in front of authorities in another country? The police in the UK have also offered for Swedish authorities to question him in the UK.

Does this mean that I should put you down as a "Yes" for extraditing CIA agents to Italy to serve their time, or your sense of justice is only when it suits you?

The difference is that if you need to arrest him he'll just turn off the monitor . Same thing goes for the UK police , he'll just leave the station .

You still haven't answered my question.

So if 2 random women accuse you of rape in a random country can we expect you to catch the next flight to that place and not fight extradition?

If I get a friend of mine to accuse you of rape:

    1) I'll leave all my work and buy an air ticket and go there first thing even if I know its false and I'll be arrested and held incommunicado because I'm not guilty and have nothing to hide.
    2) I'll do nothing, if they come here I'll fight extradition.

    1 or 2?

Answer my question and I'll answer yours. Right now, your logic is, "someone else did something bad that I detest, so Mr. Assange should be able to do the same.". You are going to need something better than that.

So what. The law has never been applied equally, yet it remains the law. OJ Simpson would probably not be doing time right now were it not for the perception that he murdered his wife (an act a court of law did not find him to be guilty of).

Then Swedish court of law will determine that he is not and he will move on with his life.

Could happen, but given the $200,000 bail, I wouldn't bet on it.

They can ask for a trial in a purple room with 25 green monkeys sitting behind the jurors. They can ask for the judge to wear a pink tutu. Whats your point?

Its sad to see how little fuel you have left in the tank Helvetii. Sweeden is a banana republic? The two women who accuse Assange are "Random"? Have you taken up crack smoking?

He can petition it all he wants, but it isn't his decision to make. They are most certainly not obligated to grant him any request. Frankly, He will get more sympathy in Sweden than he ever will in the UK. The same will be true When the US comes a knocking to extradite him on espionage charges, which will quite probably happen.

    Yes it is.

Same question your friend ran away from:
