Rules Would love to know the rules that caused me mass infractions

So, right before I was about to get the premium membership, I just got infractions in mass, at once. (I do really wonder the way we get infractions for the threads in graveyard, months ago). I am not complaining about them in any way, just interested in grasping the rules completely so that I don't repeat the mistakes.

Here are the my reasons of infractions, that with best of my knowledge, I broke no rules and still wondering the reason of the "probably mistaken" infraction.

This Thread and This Thread: Accused of duplicate threads
Are two things, with different denominations, prices and market are considered duplicates? With my limited knowledge, I consider the vouchers with the value of $50 and $100 to be different enough to create separate threads. Isn't it the case?

This Thread: Accused of wrong category
So, where else am I supposed to sell the items upto $14?

    And a lot like these...
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This leaves a few unresolved questions that I would appreciate any mod/admin to explain and to clear the confusion:

    1. If you have a product - say, a $3 voucher and a $100 voucher, shouldn't your naturally create different threads for them?

    2. For the same above example - under $5 and over $5, where to create the thread? In cheap stuff or in the section?

    3. Can the ghosts from my threads graveyard haunt me forever? I had created those threads long ago, sale had ended, everything was done and now, today suddenly I got 7 infractions out of blue. Is it really the way it is supposed to work?

I would sincerely request the mods to clear them up and if consider, reverse my infractions. Even a couple of infractions wouldn't have bothered me; but 7 in one swoop? Can I politely ask some mod that if it's possible to put a little human side into this, and reverse them, considering the fact (1) they were long ago, (2) I got in mass (just ready to push me in the ban hell) (3) and most important, I am willing to abide by the rules from now on, if I have the proper directions?

When offering multiple items in a sales thread the price of the least expensive item determines whether thread belongs in cheap stuff or elsewhere.

If members offer items A, B, C, D, and E and then subsequently make threads offering A or any combination of the items first offered, the subsequent offer duplicates the first offer and is treated as a duplicate thread.

Ah, but you had already made a thread offering $50 dollar vouchers, $70 dollar vouchers, $75 dollar vouchers, and $100 dollar vouchers. See http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=2006754. Hence, as stated above singleton offers of those denominations are considered as duplicates.

Thanks for the insights. It really cleared up the confusion. However, this thing was not really mentioned in the rules/faqs clearly, hence the mistake. Also, I got infractions in mass - almost ready to push me in the "Banyard". A quote from a moderator of DP itself is:
Since the ultimate motive of this infraction system is to make peoples aware of the rules and make them learned, I guess I have taken the hard lesson. I had never received an infraction ever for "Duplicate Threads".

So considering all these factors, can I request to please reverse the infractions? I really would have had learned the lesson right upon getting one infraction for this rule, but seven in one swoop would really be able to kill me anytime. I am a person who always try to abide by rules here on DP and willing to do it in future too. Hence, the request.

PS: This thing should be mentioned in the rules too. I only came to know about this ABCD thingy upon getting 7 infractions. If the rule isn't mentioned anywhere, how are peoples supposed to follow it?

I don't think they will reverse your infractions. How long are they for?

If you know now then just try and avoid breaking the rules, if you aren't sure then post here before making the thread.

That was me you were quoting and that stands. There is no hard and fast rule however.

I do make the exception for duplicate threads and will give an infraction for everyone found. I've recently been looking in Link Sales and its a shocker - some users are eligible for 40+ points! Yours were in Vouchers but the rule remains. Duplicate threads are not allowed.

Given that you aren't banned and nobody but mods can see your infractions I'd sit tight and let them expire. They have no impact on your use of this forum while the total remains below 10.

    Yep, they didn't. 3 Months.

I just came across to one of the Smyrl's blog post "Monkey see, monkey do" and I am no ashamed of accepting, it kinda applied to me. If 90% of members are going the wrong way and breaking the rules, it in no manner gives you the liberty to do the same. I was just (again) un-fortunate enough to get in a mod's eyes.

Nonetheless, I think I have got my lesson. Instead of getting spoiled as the 10%, it's rather better to correct the 90% and there are constructive ways to do that if you feel it will improve it (Instead of creating panic topics each time). Especially, when it will help the overall community of DP too and we will (hopefully) be able to see 100% abiding of rules someday. :)

I hope I have got it right this time.
Credits: This little, yet powerful blog post.

PS: Once again, a sincere request to put the "minimum price thread location deciding" rule to be mentioned clearly in faqs/rules section. Currently, the rule isn't mentioned anywhere, so we can't expect peoples to follow it without eating a few infractions first.

Look in your profile and there will be a tabs section entitled "Infractions"; click that.

    You'll see something like this:

    I got an e-mail saying:

This infraction is worth 5 point(s) and may result in restricted access until it expires. Serious infractions will never expire.

Infractions and reputation are two different things. If you are talking about the reputation system.

Infractions are given by moderators if you've broken the rules.

Reputation system can be given by anyone and everyone. They can give you bad or good reputation based on your post.

For example you can give others good or bad reputation as under every post there is a symbol (See arrow in my screenshot), when you click it there are fields to fill out etc:

    Oh, yes they can.

    Spam is 5 points
Dupe Accounts, iTrader abuse are both 10 points.

What's more dupe accounts accumulate. So if you create a dupe account, get caught that's a 3 month ban. Create another and those first two accounts get another 3 months added on.

True - and you should never refer to your signature in your posts.

    Spam can include
    • vcc sales, ugg boots, shoes, mobile phones sales
    • Posts promoting your latest blog post and just giving a tidbit and then the link to the post - even worse if the link has keywords and not just the url
    • Posts saying "I just found this site, is it any good?" when you have other sites asking how to get adsense approved for the same site (for example).

Affiliate links get a single point which expires after 3 months
Spam gets 5 points which expire after 6 months
