(was making) $200+ a month in adsense


I bought this forum for about 1200 from a friend a few months ago. When I bought the forum, a friend moved it over to another server, and it couldn't handle the bandwidth. It is/was my first attempt to own/run a site, and I am now realizing that it would be better in other hands.

The site was making a couple hundred in adsense a month, but I never get an adsense account, so when my friend took his off, the income stopped. I also never get better hosting, so the traffic has dropped off, because the site isn't up consistently. I think I stepped in over my head here, and am realizing that despite what I tell myself, I won't have time for it tomorrow. I already have a possible offer for $600 from one of the forum moderators. So thats where I'll start the bidding

It is a very active group, and I think if you just send out an email to all the members through VB and put up your adsense it would pick up again pretty fast.

Dude how is the site worth so much? And why are there so many posts in the Anouncements?

 

LightFont, The announcenments are from all members, they aren't just admin posts. And when the site was up consistantly it made a couple hundred a month in adsense, so I assume that it will get back to that fast when it is put on better hosting and a mass email is sent out to all members. I said all of that in the first post though.

Also, there used to be a newsletter every other week, and people payed for ads on that.

Was the site hosting files as well at that point?

I can't see how a forum with less than a thousand threads would eat up that much bandwidth.

 

Same question, what caused the high bandwidth?

 

I'm not sure what caused the high bandwidth, I know there were other sites on the server, so I assume that it was related to them.

Also, I have an offer for $1500 over time with $500 down, I would like more up front, but I will probably end the auction and sell to him for a $1500 BIN unless someone else wants to match this amount.

P.S. Should I be suspicious because of how much the offer is for, or is the site really that valuable?

 

In my opinion i dont see how a forum like that can have EVER generated $200 a month on adsense.

Can you get some screens of stats up showing stats for past 6 months so i can see what the stats were like a few months ago before you bought it.
