Multipurpose Website Help – SEO and General

Hi everyone

Hope this is in the right section.

Well, I wanted to ask a question about general websites, multipurpose websites with different functions. For example a site were content is mainly information on topics X, Y and Z, and networking is done through forum / chat room. How applicable is it?

For example, main functions.

1) Information on various topics about several places, say A, B and C etc. (I mean alot of unique content)

2) Listing of holidays, flights, hotels, etc in these places (of course in separate pages were applicable)

3) Forum (aimed at residents and visitors to these places)

Secondary Functions.

4) Chat room (Possibility)

What would be the implications of all these be, image and SEO wise?

Point 1: I believe point 1 will bring in a lot of visitors seeking info. And the amount of info will help SEO and page rank.

Point 2: what would be the implications on the applicability of the website? i,e having all this on one website. For example, would customers and advertisers be interested in a site were for example information is given about say USA, Canada, UK, and then also having pages advertising flights, tours, hotels etc + of course the forum. How favourable or detrimental would this be? On the general image of the site and SEO?

Point 3: Likewise as above, how application, favourable or detrimental on the forum would activities 1 and 2 be?

Point 4: Again would it be logical to add chat room? Considering chat rooms tend to lack in quality of information or let me say do not represent the best “social behaviour”.

And off topic: Is it possible to get page ranking for two websites, say within top 10, run by same person, same host provider etc on the same keywords?

Anyway that is about it for now, Sorry for the list and all, just trying to get a few websites up and running and any information from you guys will be really appreciated.

Yes it is logical to add a add chat room, if you have some kind of regular community with you.

The problem im finding is, if it would effect the image of the website to have say serious info, hotel + flight searches plus added feature like forum and chatroom.

Like, certain websites are dedicated to being an information site, or a forum, or a chat room.

Im stuck on accommodating all of them, when it comes to advertising, will it put off serious people?

Its a general question, maybe abit stupid, but to be honest i just want to know what peoples take on this, or such websites before i set out.

yes you can do it , I think there is no legal problem
