I'm thinking of starting to a build list(s) as email marketing is something I've still yet to explore. Just wanted to hear from people who are already in this business just wanted to ask you three questions.

    1. How big is your list?
    2. How long did it take you to build?
    3. How responsive is it, big money spinner?

Looking forward to hearing your replies!

one of my website webcosmo.com has around 110000+ opt in list. took us about 4 years i guess.
we dont make money out of it, only for communicating with our members on website updates.

That's a very big list, I heard that a good list can expect to earn you $1 a month per subscriber. If that's correct then looks like you've got an untaped gold mine there!

HolySh*t! Did you ever thought about monetizing? And how you would do this? How about a premium member fee for premium content that costs people $2 or something?

    Would be awesome right?

Email marketing is the holy grail of internet marketing.

They say $1 per subscriber, but say you have a responsive list. You could get that higher. Its not unheard of to get $6-$20 per subscriber.

My main list is currently: 15000

    3months to build

    I average $3 per subscriber

Is that $3 for a new subscriber, or $3 per month or year? How hard are you mailing your list to maintain that average?

Firstly, bloody hard work to get this list to this number in 3 months.

Per subscriber in my list, i like earn $3 to every-one. Not everyone buys of course.

Not all that hard. All you need, is to keep it revelent to your list and keep building trust.

Thats the thing people don't quite get yet. Yeah, you need to build trust in your list.

But, people think after a few emails, that trust is there now, now start promoting.

    That is all wrong.

You need to constantly build that trust. Basically, its like having a relationship.

You need to keep building that trust. You will get more response then from your list.

And it only took me 3 months to get it to that many.

So, three months from now, who knows, maybe $4 per subscriber.

If you treat your list like crap, you will lose subscribers, nevermind not make money off them.

Basically, treat them like royalty. And you'll be on your way.

You only work hard with your list if you have treated them badly.

Wow--that's very impressive! I agree that you need to treat your list like royalty. How are you doing it? I'm just starting to build my list, and can use all the tips I can get!
    Many thanks!

Well, avoid adswaps like the plague. Everyone and everybody is doing them.

So, unless you hit the ground running with those subscribers. Then you'll lose out big time.

I advertise on free bulletin boards (Free advertising site like backpage, etc)

Twitter, Facebook, rss feeds, articles, etc.

Bloody hard work, but it definately worth the time and effort.

Now, once you get to about 1000 subscribers here is what to do.

Basically this is a hint, stop on the traffic side. Just leave it the way it is for the time being.

    I'll explain why now.

When you get these people onto your list, you should of got OTO page up after they subscribe.

Everyone of those people that paid is your buyers list.

The usual rate is about 2% of subscribers buy, unless you are a well known marketers, then % will be higher.

Now, all money u have made, DO NOT SPEND IT.

    Only on the following.

You'll need to make a product, a sales page and pay for the clickbank vendor account.

Now, the product is easy to make, the sales page is easy, its getting accepted into clickbank is a while to wait.

Once all set up, promote your product to your list of buyers and non buyers.

    Preferably, buyers a week before.

Now, the buyers know about the product, now ask them to affiliate themselves to promote it for you.

Not everyone will, but the people that buy it, will become onto your buyers list.

The rest is easy-peasy lemon queezy. Keep bringing out newer and better products.

Bigger list comes, bigger products, JV's, better bargaining power with now outsourcing copywriting, sales page making and everything.

And that is just tip number 1....

Very good advice here. I also say be very picky what you promote to your list, if you wouldn't want your mum seeing it or joining it for christ sakes don't send it to your list. There not a bunch of retards and if you send them crap they'll leave. The amount of lists I leave now because all they want to do is pitch me on the next set of bullshit they have lined up.
