Hiii, i dont understand pagerank. Is the number of articles on a website relevant to pagerank or is totally dependent on Backlinks?? And how do u increase pagerank????
It's all about backlinks. That said, interlinking the pages of a website will also help spread the PR around the site so you don't have a site with PR on the homepage and none on the rest of the site. However, if your site gets large enough, it does seem as though the more heavily linked pages within a site's structure get a higher ranking than less-interlinked pages do.
Add content on a regular basis and and your pagerank will grow much more faster. Google helps those sites which add value to the Internet.
BS its a back link game. You can put 100k articles on a site and PR will still be 0 Trust me I did it
You can have 100k backlinks but if your site lacking content it will be like an epty town. Everybody knows there is nothing to find there. No visitors- no ranking. SEO is a multiside strategy. There is no way that only one thing could raise the site to high PR. ...Although mirracles sometimes happen like Plentyoffish.com
I've found that it's a little of both, adding content helps but not as much as backlinks. I like to aim for a healthy balance of the two.
It's somehow relevant IMO. But it depends on the quality of the articles. The more unique articles you have the more chances that some of your visitors might post it in other websites(Forums and Blogs) that will serves as your backlinks aswell. That's why content is the king! But of course, doing backlinks on your own will probably rank your websites faster because you have in control on where and how to put your links.
What YMC said. The only two things that ranks a site high are backlinks and the age of the site. You can get this straight from the horse's mouth: Google. No hearsay. But, it is still possible that you can land on page one or two in a search without doing a damn thing, and you put your site up last month. It's funny how it works that way, but it happens all the time. You've probably seen such sites. Search engine computers are not infallible. But, backlinks and how long you are in their index (the age of your site) increases your odds. Adding content on a regular basis has nothing to do with rank. Backlinks, word of mouth, tells Google that you have a popular site. The more others talk up your site, the higher in rank you go. It's been said by many that the backlinks should come from sites that are on the same subject (if you have a humor site, then the backlinks should be from other humor sites), but I am not sure if that is correct. I think Matt Cutts, one of Google's engineers, has said that as long as it is a reputable backlink, it is fine. It makes sense, though. Who cares who talks up a site, as long as it is legit (no spam farms!). But to play it safe, get as many backlinks from the same subject your site is on. This is very easy to do. Find sites that have a link exchange program. Example: http://www.davesdaily.com/e/signup1.php And here is his links page that has helped his site rank high, in addition to him being on the Net for so long: http://www.davesdaily.com/coollinks.htm If you happen to have a humor site, all you have to do is to contact all of those sites listed there. Backlinks and the age of your site...that's all there is to it. It's not complicated at all.
I agree that it is a backlink game but I do think you can achieve PR1 with just content. I had a new site that I put about 50 pages of original content in and let it sit around while working on other stuff and it went to PR1 with no visible backlinks just some traffic to the content. I have also heard other people say that they have gotten to PR1 with just some good original content. Not that PR1 is anything to brag about but it was with no backlinks.
That's when the computers ("spiders") are not doing the job it has been designed to do. Your keywords got you in, obviously, and when the computers doesn't do its job, you rise above the sites that are better optimized and they have backlinks. No matter what the PR number is, there are, God knows, how many pages out there on page one or two of a search that have only a couple of paragraphs worth of words on them. I have lost count the number of sites I have seen where all it had was a header and sidebar. It's not fair to the other webmasters, but that's just the way it is.
Perry, what has happened with you? I find myself agreeing with your posts O/T: I agree with the statement that PR is a matter of back links. Articles have their place in the SEO games, but that is a keyword/phrase game, not a PR one. In fact using the right combination of keywords/phrases can get you on many top spots on page 1 at Google, but that will be for that page, and it' s PR will not change because of it.
Absolutely! Build quality pages with lots of content. Not just 200 word pages, but good stuff. And you also need the links spread around to boost your main landing page.
When we add high quality, informative contents other bloggers don't mind adding our contents to their blogs/sites (as second result) and it simply brings us backlinks and so the PageRank. Still, poor written content with not proper SEO on it with precise use of keywords brings nothing but wasting of time. Well, Only backlinks with domain age can bring you PageRank, for sure but to achieve higher and establish PageRank both did a god factor together. Interlinking with content provides linkjuice to other pages including homepages because it is said that every new pages has an PR values that counts internally. IMO, not only backlinks neither content alone can do a magic but together it would be best with no doubt.
