Linux is good because it is secure as comparison to other operating systems. Its use less memory and installer size is also small.

I can't run my IM tools on Ubuntu, but it is sure a safe and fast o/s for surfing the internet and doing non i.m. tasks. Widows 7 is a huge improvement over Vista.

Strange, I've been using Ubuntu for almost one year now and I can't remember a point when it was use command line or nothing at all. The command line misconception was what kept me from trying Linux for many years. I still don't know nothing but basic commands, yet I can use Ubuntu to do what I want.

Nope, the KDE desktop has been around before Windows 7. Perhaps Microsoft are the ones who bored from Linux/KDE.

Linux is the easy choice. However, there are certain applications I need which don't run on Linux unfortunately so I'm stuck with Windows 7. Unfortunately, I had a lot of issues with the Ubuntu Wubi dual boot application.

It's depend on the purpose. When you are not familiar with command line, windows7 is the option. For me, Linux with GUI is fantastic, it is free and more stable than windows os. But for business view, people are easy to use computer with windows rather use linux.

Stability is a huge plus with Ubuntu, I never had a single problem with crashes.

I have used it before, I would use Windows 7 for home.

I will really use Linux for websites or servers!

i dont agree with you. for big businesses Linux is the key to success. when you look at server side of any business, mostly you will find linux. yes windows is no doubt popular in people but its for the end users. not for the server side. so when you are going to configure a server then choice must be linux. and for end user windows is good.

now macintosh and other like ubunto and fedora (flavour of linux for end users) are also makind good end users products.

here if anyone knows about Open Suse pls tell me about that. what are its main feature? and what are the backdraws?
