    Hy dear programmers,

I've done this thread to warn you.. to stay far away from pileofcrap user because is a thieve. Let me tell you the entire story!
All started last week... He wanted a twitter plugin that send tweets every time you posts an article on your blog. After I've done the plugin (at a fair price and very fast) and sent it to him... he decided not to give me the money... because the plugin is not working.
    BUT... !
    1) the plugin is working and this can be proved... because he already use it:
    http://search.twitter.com/search?q=tinyurl+source:MDoodle
When I've told him that he uses my plugin... and threaten him to give me the money I deserve (otherwise i'll give him negative feedback), he said i programmed a trojan in that plugin.. to tell me where is used. Big LOL! I think he don't know about Twitter Search and "source:" parameter. In fact he don't know anything about twitter, oauth and how twitter aplications works.

    2) today.. he decided to tell me... that the code is ripped and I've stolen the code. Why he said that ? Because I've used a php library recommanded by twitter developers ( http://dev.twitter.com/pages/oauth_libraries#php ): twitteroauth.
twitteroauth library is one of the most used php libraries for wordpress plugins (i checked this on wordpress.org plugin directory).

What do you think ? He deserves this thread... or not ?!

    PS: sorry for my english
PS: in a few days I'll put that plugin on wordpress.org plugin directory

LE: forgot something! When he said me that the plugin is not working... I asked him about what wordpress version is using because could be a version incompatibility and I can solve it. But no answer! Why ? Because the plugin is working and he don't know what to lie.
LE2: as I see... he loves to do this kind of things: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=395857 (xAngel = pileofcrap). Read the entire thread... and you'll see the similarities.

Lots of DP buyers buys the services and then says the end product is "not-what-they-want" and decides not to pay. Recently, I have been scammed like this as well. So, I suggest

    1. dont work for buyers who dont have positive reviews.
    2. dont work without upfronts
    3. some buyers even paying the upfront, asks for a refund although at the end they use the product. So keep some dollars as base fees (which is non-refundable) - fair buyers do not have issues with this - believe me!

I work like this so that I cant be scammed.

I have done thousands of trades in DP and this is my conclusion.

    hi,

i usually do all the job and put a demo script for user so user can see it. if he/she satisfied, then i ask for payment.
then i send the script or whatever i develop for him/her. and i save all the conversation log so if the buyer claim unfair paypal dispute, i can give all the logs to paypal investigation team.

    regards,
    firman

@firman01: I usually give them a demo... but this time I thought is not necessary. I also save emails and conversation logs... but this time are not so useful :D
Anyway... I know how to learn from past problems and next time I'll pay more atention.

They deserve the post. I would post it. I even pay even if I don't feel it is what I want, because I know things can be difficult at times, and the thing is that little that anyone knows that most scripts are pre-written, and a lot of what people pay for is to 1. Having to find it. 2. Have someone customize it for them. 3. Have someone explain to you how to integrate into a webpage or 4. Have someone integrate into a webpage. On top of all of that I am sure that you charged a fair price for the work, and told them up front what it would be. I would give a negative feedback and report them to the administrator also. There is no need for that here. I have got some not so good work here, but again it was worth the money just to learn how to do it or find or get the script for me to customize it. Big jobs, get half the money up front, period. Anyway in a couple of days I may be interested in your services. P/M me with a price.

look for the itrader info details and in the profile pages. i usually dont wanna work for a buyer that look for a 'cheapest solution around'.
based on my experience, most of the time (but not all), that kind of buyer, will not respect a coder very well and will drive you crazy.

so for buyer and seller, just back to the basic rules.

a happy coder == good result.
a sad and underpaid coder == probably will result alot of wtf/minutes code lines :D

    Hi guys,
Thought I would post here and defend myself. I delayed paying him because after reviewing his code I thought I had seen it before. I started looking at other plugins related to what I had asked for... low and behold he had ripped most of the code (granted not all of it, but his work mostly involved echo's and html code) from another Wordpress plugin.

More or less after discovering this I decided to back out. An option I am ALLOWED TO DO. So this entire thread is bogus.

Beware of gikone... I attempted to hire a cheap programmer and I guess you get what you pay for.
Lesson Learned: Pay the extra $$$ and hire someone who doesn't have to rip code.

@pileofcrap: If you use the same php library there are alot of chances to be similarities between plugins. I have never ripped any code.
@admins: As I see... I've got 2 infractions points because I've warned other developers about this thieve.
@all: when you work with @pileofcrap, if you know to write a function in a way that others do.... you should re-invent it because he will say is ripped.

Despite of the fact that... the plugin was written by me, using a library recommanded by Twitter developers. I think you should see what he told me.. before:

oh that's nice screenshot, i wonder how the mods will act to this, because they can actually ask the admin to checkout the pm logs conversation.
