Don't think I insulted anyone? Just offered an opinion on what I saw.

As for the lessons etc, what does he want? a medal? "frankly my dear, I don't give a damn"

Totally agree that at the very least $0.01 per word should be the minimum, but you would be surprised how much junk I get even when I pay more than that. Most content writers I encounter are scammers and try mixing in copied content. With the amount of time I have to spend re-writing their work and correcting inaccurate statements, I can write an article myself. So I think it's important to note that writers need to be delivering quality instead of trying to scam the buyers all the time. I have no problem paying great rates but unfortunately I have yet to encounter a writer that is worth it because of the above reasons. So yes, there are greedy buyers, but in my opinion there appears to be just as many greedy writers to that do not care if they churn out crap (even when they're paid generously).

I think DP will never set a min price for writing. I don't agree with that however.. Writers who do not write 'ethically' should not market his/her services. Buyers who only look for cheapest price should not get mad with what they get. It's also because it's demand and supply.
Non-native speakers write lower quality of English (can be slight grammatical error or not-flowing sentences) and they are paid less - this is fair. Buyers who are not native can be satisfied with this. Buyers who can't not afford to pay higher for native writers may also get satisfied. But for those who are looking for really professional content for their professional sites must want to pay higher. Hire native speakers then.

It's crazy to read threads looking for $1/500 words at other freelancer sites and many still apply for the job. It is not rational to write good content at such price. Hope DP will not be filled with such crap. Although in some developing countries you can live with the $1/500 words rate, there is tiny chance to find good writer at this rate. Good writers know their potency and charge according to the market standard, or they might have worked with long term buyers who want pay good out there. So those left with the rates must either be new comers or crap sellers.

Few individuals are interested in receiving quality work. All they check out is the price. According to them, the lower the price, the better the article. Just my 20 cents (after adjusting for inflation) :p

    Excuse Me??
You cannot just stereotype all the non-native speakers like that!!!
Most of the non-native speakers do write lower quality of English but remember there are other's too....Next time, do not just stereotype everyone like that....

Well, as they say... you always get what you pay for. I won't mind paying a lot of money as long as the content's professional.

I Dont think its possible to set a minimum price specially in any public forum.. All that would do is shift the dealings from topics to private messages

While I fully agree with what you have said, there is a rule already set in place over here due to which individuals are encouraged to correspond via PM. :=/

Welcome back! I read that you'd had an accident? How are you now?

The situation on DP BST has gone from bad to worse, esp for the rates advertised. The "underground" market still has some decent buyers .. only a few.

There are a few sites which will pay at least 1 cent a word. Though 1 cent a word is really pushing it for me. I do occasionally write articles to use as advertising money, or if I need to pick up some software for my business. But even then, it's usually at no less than 2 cents a word. I enjoy writing the articles and using the money for my business. Though I don't do it too frequently. (I start to go nuts after a few hours of writing.)

Its cute how you rant... But why abuse the tragic history of slavery with your rant about economic supply/demand principles.
