    It is not only right, it is a moral duty. Think about it this way : If they are not a part of the solution, they are a part of the problem. They are most definitely part of the problem. LINK

    Maybe we could gas them or start putting them in concentration camps. We can also use the anchor babies as experiment in Area 51. :rolleyes: The best and Final Solution.

    I'm not blaming them for anything which isn't a well documented fact. When you ask that we not prosecute the laws already on the books, you ask for open borders. That is most definitely pushing immigration. Given your current country of residence, it is hypocrisy at its finest.

    You think we could muster congressional support for that ;)? I think it would be cheaper to load them onto the daily C5 galaxies headed for Afghanistan, and leave them there. It would take a hell of a lot longer for them to come back than dropping them off in Tijuana.

    Illegal immigrants may not be the source of our troubles, but that does not make them a source of our troubles, and a large one at that. I hear fallacious arguments like the ones you are making all the time, and they are counter productive. "Lets ignore the illegal immigration problem because so many of our actual citizens are living on welfare".

    This type of argument is commonly used by congress when they talk about why we shouldn't cut this wasteful government program or that government program or earmarks. It goes something like, "It's only 5 billion dollars, a drop in the bucket, less than one one hundreth of one percent of our federal spending". Basically, its only 5 billion in waste(or someones pet project, or someones payola), so why cut it. What nonsense. 5 billion dollars in waste is 5 billion dollars in waste. That is the low hanging fruit. That is the first thing you cut. Everytime someone says its too small to be felt if we cut it, I say its too small to be noticed if its gone.

    In comparison, illegal immigration is the gigantic low hanging fruit.

    First time unemployment claims are down 34k which is the eye of the storm. All the money that the FED is printing has to go someone and at some point people will spend it which will increase the economy in the short term. A parallel is 1979 - a year before the double dip recessions of 1980 and 1981-1982. Unemployment actually dopped to 5.6%. But you see how fast the situation changed and there was 3 more years of recession.

    The US is fast approaching the situation of the Weimar Republic. We just aren't producing manufactured goods and the Government believes that they can spend there way to prosperity.

    The outlook for 2011 is a double dip for housing which could trigger another banking crisis.

    Russia and China are both have inflation rates of 6-8% and the price of gas/food are going through the roof.

    There's another stock market bubble and significant chance of 20%+ crash.

    Don't drink the kool-aid!

    @popotalk

    I think that you should direct your outrage @ Mexico. Not a day goes by that there isn't a report of mass slayings of immigrants by drug gangs in Mexico. Honduras has reported that 10,000 Hondurans have been kidnapped there. The United Nations should investigate this. Where's your outrage?

    Honduras: 10,000 Migrants Kidnapped In Mexico

    @Bushranger

    I've travelled the length of Mexico. The issue isn't land mass but infrastructure. Using Mexico as an example, the just don't have the highways, mass transit, water system etc to expand the standard of living. They have the money and the workers, But the 'easy' solution is encourage workers to cross the border to work illegally in the US and send money home.

    The US has a sizeable population of illegal immigrants from Russia. Russia has a declining population, large land mass and the most natural resources in the world!

    @Obamanation

    Illegal immigration is just one of the issues. But there is a triangulation with out of control welfare and entitlement spending as well as the budget crisis in States like Illinois, New York, Nevada, and California.

    California and Illinois are on the brink of default which will make Greece look like a joke.

    You're just upset because I rejected your advances. I told you Julian, I am not gay. Please try and understand that I'm attracted to women, not overweight Canadian trailer park boyz such as youself:

    Why must the enforcement of our long standing laws always be compared to Gestapo tactics for political purposes. We don't compare our police officers to Gestapo when they ask for our drivers license. An especially odd charge, considering your profession.

    I do appreciate the history review on our border polices with Mexico though. Back then, we sent back US citizens of latin decent without batting an eye. I'm certainly not advocating that, and I don't think anyone else here is either.

    Only one problem. Felipe is part Lakota Sioux(North/South Dakota). I'm part Cherokee(Oklahoma).

    Seems pretty bigoted and racist to me that you could not tell the difference. ;)

    Hmmm... posts are being censored or lost on this thread. It really does not matter which one it is. The USA
    certainly is becoming a voice unheard.

    The title of this thread is "United States Heading towards a Depression?"

    A Depression is a period of time as opposed to a recession which is a defined event. What is making us head toward a depression is Socialism and it's going to get nasty before it gets worse. Canada has just reduced the corporate tax rate to 16.5% and the US is 35%. The US is at risk to start losing jobs to Canada and this can make or break some companies.

    I just heard a report of the New York Blizzard which reminded me of Greece. The streets in New York are in many places still not passable. It turns out that 10% of Union members in the New York Sanitation Dept called out sick and that the work is going very slow. New York had more snow during the 1996 Blizzard. But was able to clean it up faster and with less workers.

    I wonder what is going to happen when Cities start defaulting on the pensions. I see that property taxes in Philadelphia went up 10% and PA is on the brink as well.

    ??? Right, as in the direction that is to the right of left? I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to find many right leaning moderators here. Things are generally pretty fair.

    Which is probaly why my blurb got deleted. It was more about immigration than the topic at hand. Popotalk, why
    not go make your own thread on immigration ?
