I'm not sure but i've read some article saying that don't waste our time getting listed in DMOZ, is it correct? I've been trying to put my site to DMOZ but still after 2 - 3 years still have no luck.
That first question pretty much is answered by the following statement. Seriously, what do you think of it's relevance is if it is taking so long to be listed? If you are submitting to directories in general, then you have to give a nod to the ODP, but if you are not, then don't bother.
Yes it is correct. I had 9 deeplinks (to my little now almost 2600 page multilanguage multitopic unique content website) before I even become editor, Metas approved another two deeplinks when I requested new categories, then they've "found out" that all these deeplinks belonged to me and used every trick in the book to delist them and keep them in unreviewed forever so now there are barely 3 deeplinks surviving - impact on Google ranking and traffic = zero. My biggest problem is wikipedia using my website as source and writing articles based solely on content from my website pushing me out of number one positions for my unique totally irrelevant topics nobody else on the internet covers (or cares about). Happy New Year
not sure about their policies and how to evaluate the link submission. Is DMOZ really controlled by neutral moderator.
I don't think anyone is edits or moderates some sections of DMOZ at all. There's probably zillions of emails dormant in some unknown inbox no one checks. The reason is I've run a stock photography website for 9 years and 5 years ago submitted it to DMOZ and it still isn't listed. The website is prominent and ranks among the top in that industry. I would think 5 years would be sufficient. Three years ago I submitted a client's site, which is the headquarters website for a national laboratory and that isn't in the directory either. I hope Google doesn't even use the directory anymore. Seems worthless to penalize some sites, but not others who randomly got through the first edits early on, not proportional to the number of users served or prominence in the industry.
If you read biggest discussions on this forum from few years ago, most people come to belive that DMOZ is really controlled by Keyser Söze. DMOZ is suppose to be controlled by AOL but they left actual control to Meta editors which decide on everything by themselves and if republicans in US Senate are willing to block Zadroga bill we can only imagine what happens inside closed Meta forum which nobody supervises.
DMOZ suffered a catastrophic crash in late 2006 and most of the submissions were lost. If you haven't, you might want to resubmit. Or you might not want to, your choice. Just note that they could care less how prominent your site is or where it ranks as it has nothing to do with the acceptance criteria or whether or not your submission will be reviewed.
Dont you mean that Posters such as yourself read threads claiming corruption, then repeat the thread, only now they state it is a fact, rather than a claim? No doubt there has been a few editors removed for abuse, what with thousands upon thousands of Editors over the years, it is bound to happen........but as for DMOZ being corrupt, thats just Goofballs like you repeating hearsay. Considering DMOZ is now "irrelevent", there sure is a lot of people talking about it
As a group of hobbyists, we hope that people like you who find any dead sites will report them with the update button. We do have bots that search for dead sites but it does not find them all and sometimes it is a time before an editor will work through the list, so helpful people like you who want to tell us we have dead sites do so on DMOZ in the awy I have described so our editors can get round to dealing with it quickly. Can I just ask if you reported any of the ones you found that way?
Are you fucken serious? They've been blackmailing a lot of "gurus" for years. Shoemoney is one of them. Google it.
So, "The Mouth" is repeating heresay and not providing facts.......goofballs like you normally dont, they cant think, they just repeat like parrots
Are you illiterate, retarded or just slow? I gave you all the information you need to "Google" it. Shoemoney, DMOZ, corrupt - GOOGLE IT. I'm not going to do research I don't need to do, or commit plagiarism by copying and pasting articles.
