He hasn't been convicted of a crime. But since he is an army private, there are different standards set here. I'm pretty sure if someone in the army assaulted a senior officer in the army, they'd get the same treatment. He knew or should have known the consequences of his actions. I'm not saying he deserves the way he is being treated, but he knew the consequences and still went a head allegedly. (Seeing as he hasn't been convicted) But he is in army prison, so there are a whole set of different rules.

Every detainee at Quantico is in a cell by themselves. Bradley isn't getting any special treatment designed just for traitors. He's being treated with the same care as any other maximum custody detainee on POI (Prevention Of Injury) watch. Can you imagine the shit storm that would ensue if Bradley were able to hurt himself? All the lefty loons would be screaming about how the military murdered their favorite traitor.

As usual, you know very little about your country. Iran sells Iron ore to china through Khomeini port in south of Iran. There are many iron ore mines that are both owned by private people and through a trust by the revolutionary guard. Due to embargo and difficulty of cashing LC, many Chinese and Indians are in Iran and buy the iron ore at low price because they can pay cash. Lately Indians even are buying the mines itself because the owners don´t have the money to work the mine. You can look at mines in Hamadan area. The biggest problem for Iran to export Iron ore beside finance part, it is the fact that your ports are not capable to handle the quantity which is demanded by China market. In todays market, you can easily make between 30-40 USD /ton buying from small mines in Iran and selling in Shanghai. Big, government owned mines have themselves office in China.
I told you, I know more about your country than you do. ;):D

Maybe Spencer can explain the correlation between H and private Manning from the abridged quote and his interpretation that is anything but pointless as are his allegations of treason.

The point being Manning has not sought personal gain from his actions.

Maybe you can look at the UCMJ and tell us what having or not having a personal gain motive has to do with anything. Unless they're letting you write a brand new code they kinda have to try him under the one we already have.

If he's really lucky they won't try him for espionage.

The point is, the material being exposed is his conscientious objection to the military he is a member of and has been made public. Supposedly he is willing to face the consequences for his actions. Colloquially speaking, he is blowing the whistle on injustice whether UCMJ fits the picture as it should or not.

If reporting the murdering of Innocent civilians is espionage under UCMJ then Manning's bravery is indeed the true calling for Duty to Country.

    Yeah you are right Gworld.
I failed. I rely on my own information but probably you could find the truth via google.
In previous years China had more demand on our steel slabs but recently they started their steel producer plants hence more need Iran ores than slabs.

I'm glad you know Iran better than me!

You are becoming like your friends, putting a first line of my post and then posting some irrelevant BS about google to hide your lack of knowledge. You claimed Iran doesn´t have iron ore which was totally wrong. Unlike you I don´t open my mouth and just talk about talk about things that I have no idea about. Some part of your post is really a gem, China recently started producing steel. The world biggest economy just " recently" started, do you know how important steel is? China is buying iron ore because it is a strategic product for them as oil is for USA, they already have for about 20 years forward.
Don´t be jsut glad that I know more about country than you do, try to learn about your country.

"Conscientious objector" was a status utilized to avoid the draft... which we don't have. Manning was a volunteer.

As for what he released, given the volume he admits he stole, even he has no clue to the contents of most. Releasing stuff he doesnt know about is not "conscience", just reckless / stupid / potentially endangering lives depending on what turns up. Releasing hundreds of thousands of state dept communiques when he doesnt know the contents (or have the background to understand them if he did) is like firing lives rounds into the air to celebrate New Years... there's no telling who or what may be injured by doing so. That's why both actions are against the law.

Either way as the action of stealing classified docs and transmitting them to a citizen of a foreign country is espionage. They may choose to try him on a lesser charge out of mercy, but he did the crime, he will end up in jail at best. Not a bright kid.

You're welcome to choose a criminal as your hero, but he's a brave patriot only in the sense Jeffrey Daumer is a fine food critic.

love you Gworld. you don't open your mouth ....

I told you the cause of my failure. I should add, the company I working for, bring most of iron ore from a mine in India that our ex regimen (Shah) bought it for this reason.
I know the name of Iranian Iron ore mines that most of their mineral consume by steel producer in Isfahan (my knowledge not Google search)

anyway I lost and you win! You should proud of yourself! Love to see you happy!
no shame and no lie was in my post.
I accepted my fault but not sure a brave man like you can do the same!

Gworld is flexing his knowledge of the inner workings of Iran again. Not sure if the recent UN sanctions apply to exports and imports of Iron ore, but I suspect they do.

You suspect wrong. Iron ore can freely be exported to China. The problem is mostly with financial instruments such as LC but if you are paying with bank transfer there is no problem and it makes sure that you get good prices. Iran iron ore is high quality and in demand in China.
I give you free tips, copper is not bad too.

Traitors and those committing 'treason' are never 'courageous' by any means.
The man deserves the death penalty for what he did, and for his role in the wikileaks garbage.

Why Manning was arrested was for the disclosure of the video depicting civilians being shot to death by US helicopters while on patrol in Baghdad, Iraqi. From within the ranks he chose to divulge the information to the public under what most likely will be a defense of conscientious objections for that specific event.

The relevance of the other documents, presumably is meant to reinforce the original complaint of duplicity within the gov't portraying a facade that in reality is a false pretense proven by the vast documentation to prove the initial complaint.

Manning in short is using a Howitzer to shoot an ant.

Yah, releasing the names of the Afghani's assisting NATO troops was "background information". Even the helicopter video had to be doctored to make the event look sinister(Whistleblowers don't normally have to doctor their videos).

There is one small detail that I have yet to obtain clarity on regarding this whole matter. Somewhere earlier in this thread, someone made the comment that Manning didn't even know what was on in the files he handed over to Assange. If it is true that Manning handed encrypted files to Assange to decrypt, Assange's culpability goes up. It is one thing to obtain classified documents in clear text and not be able to help yourself from reading them. It is quite another to actively hack the encryption on documents you know to be classified. In either event, publishing them remains espionage IMO.

Here is to wishing Manning a speedy trial and execution.

Here's to a speedier process of document sorting so the real story behind all these war crimes will clear Manning of all charges.

Raises a glass with Obamanation - Here's to a speedy execution of this trial so we can get on with prosecuting Bush, Cheney and the rest of the war criminals who sent your country, and half the world, broke.

No idea how accurate this is, but I read on Wired that Manning might be offered some type of plea deal in exchange for testimony against Assange. It appears there is a contradiction between what Manning says, and what Assange says.

It sounds like if Manning and Assange planned this over several months, Assange may be more likely to face conspiracy charges.
