Looking for quality free reciprocal directories

I'm looking for SE friendly directories that offer free with reciprocal link submission. Does anyone have a good list for them?

Why? Most reciprocal directories I've known haven't been all that successful, so I'm just curious why anyone would set one up...

It's not about 'success' at this point for this particular project. I believe that will be defined at a later stage.

What it is about for me, is being able to share and try to help out others who are just starting out.
If the directory gains PR strength then great! If it doesn't, then I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Once there are enough links within the directory to start reorganizing, believe me, I will be doing just that. Whether it be renaming titles or even rewriting descriptions based on site review, I'll be doing it.
I figure if people truely have a quality oriented website, I want it to be in my directory. I will be adding features as it progresses so hopefully it grows. But we'll see.

I don't believe that reciprocal web directories are that great of an idea. If you want to increase link popularity for your directory, there are many better ways to get it done other than relying on listed sites to link back to you.
