I've been reading a few articles here and there on driving traffic to your website, and they all seem to consist of the same things. Which must mean, these are being taught so often because they have been tried and true. These methods will probably never go away. If you're new to IMing, don't try to innovate, just go with this.

Well, regardless of the link baiting some good points are raised...and people don't always seem the realize the power of free advertising through social media, guest blogging, etc. Stephanie
All the things he said are true, but I think the MAIN goal should be getting to Google's 1st page. Organic traffic is the most useful and constant way to get traffic to your site. All the suggestions are great way to GET you to the first page and get a higher PR.

That's a good start. While you have some social networking in there, I think you're really underestimating the value of things like referral programs ("refer 8 people to get access to my latest money-making post for free"), bookmarking, and even blog commenting to a point. But like I said, it's a good start. Anyone who follows these tips should find at least some success!
I think this is good advice, and like others, I think it's more of a starting point. These topics can all be gone into in considerable depth. Personally, I've seen this all before though, and I'm open to new ideas and approaches. One little quibble; you mention EzineArticles and GoArticles. I would hardly say that these two sites are at all on par with each other. If you want to know why, you can read my review of EzineArticles and my review of GoArticles. I personally found GoArticles to be a complete waste of time. It drove almost no traffic and a few tests suggested that it had little to no SEO value either. My reviews give a thorough explanation and suggest some other good alternatives.
Well you can add, "Make a thread in a high-traffic forum about your blog then link to it!" Geez, worked for you, right?
