I've put alot of effort into my sites, posting unique content and stuff over months.

Yet I cannot get off Page Rank 0.

I have alot of Do follow links but they don't show up when I check my backlinks.

Have a look at my signature on this site for instance, it's do follow and I Have over 30 posts... Yet nothing from this website shows upwhen I check my backlinks. It's a simular situation with different links to my site.

HOw can I get these links to count, and how can I get off Page Rank 0?

    Thanks for any help

it will show up, sometimes some backlink checkers do not show all actual backlinks. Also if they are not truly 'dofollow' may not help you. I would probably try linking with relevant higher PR sites that are in your category, either reciprocal or do a paid one-way link. Forum posting like this as well as participating in blogs.

Google hasn't yet updated the PR since the last 8 months or so. You might get a PR in its next update.

Forget about pagerank; it's a waste of time. It'll update eventually but it'll happen long after you've already achieved some measure of success. It's best to not think about it too often and just check it once in a blue moon out of idle curiosity--but without expecting anything.

Look at whether or not your site is appearing in search results for relevant searches. If you aren't getting anywhere, you might be trying for too competitive of search keywords. Start with something more specialized and esoteric and see if you can get relevant pages of your site to rank well in these specialized keywords. This can give you a sense of which techniques work and which ones don't.

    Good luck!

@cazrot - ya mean one shud check once in 2.8 years?
    Google: once in a blue moon = 1.16699016 × 10power (-8) hertz

Anyways on topic, PR seems to be dead they havent updated for long. Try focusing more on measuring backlinks site traffic where your links come from, and follow the basic thing. it normally generates pretty much average results and you earn good too.

Would you mind telling me what you use to check your backlinks? Google? Yahoo? Both are inaccurate when it comes to showing your number of backlinks. The same thing that is happening to you happened to my website, spent months working on backlinks from everywhere, and saw one or two show up on google. There is a site called majesticseo.com and there you can really see your number of backlinks, as well as how many are nofollow or redirects. It also shows you how many backlinks are from unique domains, as oftentimes when you check your backlinks on google or yahoo, many of them will be from the same website, just a different page or thread, etc.

When I used majesticseo, I really saw where all my work went into as my backlinks DID in fact skyrocket during that time. You have to sign up (for free) to get a more detailed report, but you get the main info just by inputting your domain.

    Hope this helps.

Just one thing for the OP: Follow this advice! It's spot on.

Worry more about your position in the search results rather than your PageRank.

You should focus on your traffic instead of some number. :)

Thanks guys, and yeah the PR doesn't matter much, I just figured that becuase it is on 0 after so long, it might mean I'm doing something wrong. My search engine results have been fairly good, I got to 3rd spot for a phrase I wanted but it isn't a very competitive one.

    Thanks guys
