I've said that you COULDN'T insert adsense ads if you are using wordpress.com service..If you want ,you'd better set up a blog with your own domain your your server OR go for blogger.com .
Hmm, try Blogsome? http://www.blogsome.com They use the Wordpress engine and you can insert Google ads. - MENJ
Ok, so if if I have a blog using the free wordpress service, I wont be able to put in my adsense ads? that really sucks now! So now, what to do.. Ed
Write good quality content They might make it a paid widget in the future though. And remember that ads are not the only to monetize.
To the visitor, there isn't really much of a difference. Both can be made to look the same with templates. Last time I tried blogger though, it didn't have categories that you can put posts under.
There are too many options. If you visit ProBlogger and Performancing, you can easily monetize your blog. Now a days, RSS feeds are being used for this purpose.
That using blogger, or any other free service, you are totally giving the free service your work. At any time, the free services can change their TOS and poof! You might lose all the work you did. With your own domain and using wordpress, it is ALL yours!
I think, it's the most important point to think about when choosing a free service. Now a days, when .info and .org domains have gone so cheap and the hosting providers like DreamHost are providing huge, ever growing space, I think it's nicer to buy a domain and host a copy of WordPress on your own domain. And if you need many blogs on the same domain, you could always go with WordPress MU (http://mu.wordpress.org)
so if i buy my space, which run from 10-20 dollars, how much more money do i have to pay to get it going? is there a hosting fee or no? Ed
I would go with WordPress. It looks very nice and is easy to operate. There is a very nice backend where you post and edit your blog.
If you have a web hosting account and a domain, there is no need to invest extra money. As we know, WordPress is an open source script. So you won't need to buy a copy of WordPress. Just a domain name and a web hosting account. I'll prefer purchasing hosting from DreamHost if you can maintain the cost (I think, they charge $9 or $10/month). If you need a small hosting account, you can visit FastNext, Hostony or HostGator for this purpose. I've experienced their hosting quality (the companies listed above). If you are serious about blogging, I won't recommend purchasing a hosting account from a cheap (most of the time, unreliable) service provider. It's just my opinion. You are free to select a hosting provider of your choice. You can get .Info or .Org for less than $2 (for the first year), if you try to find some cheap Directi resellers. Or you can get a domain for free at NamePros by clicking on adverts (referral links, I guess). There is no need to invest extra, as I already said. The Internet is full of high quality contents. If you enjoy blogging, I'm sure that you'll earn a lot.
