SEO - Ranking for a Keyword with 12,000 Competition (using allintitle: in Google)

Keyword I intend to rank for has 12,000 competition when doing an exact search for the sites competing using the Google Allintitle: "keyword".

Does anyone have experience in competing on such a number of competing sites?

How long would you say it takes to rank, if I get goo regular backlinks etc?

Is this considered "Highly competitive" or is it low?

Need to know what the keyword is really. I was looking at something with less serps than that the other day and it was frankly flippen brutal. How many pages google returns on a term is not a real good indicator of hard it is to rank something.

You can pm it to me if need be. Happy to advise you accordingly. That said, conventional wisdom would typically dictate this is monkey work and should be done pretty quickly.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

I think Som3on3 means: compare it to the competition in a keyword like "free online games"
Then 12k "competition" doesn't look that strong.

But it all depends on who you are competing against.
If you compete for a keyword with 1 competitor but the competitor is coca cola or something like that, then you are still screwed.
If you have 100k competition but none of them are strong, then that is still simple.

    So it all depends.
Sending the keyword to Nigel would be a way to find out.. I guess :)
    Anyway, Good luck!

I have worked on keywords more competition than this. So it's not a big deal for an SEO. If you get backlinks from niche sites then it wont take much time for ranking the keyword. And I think it's an average competitive keyword
