I see a lot of file hosting and sharing sites here. Like oron, hotfile, rapidshare. You can earn money for 1000 downloads. But how these sites earn money? not only advertising is too low. I have started a website like these for myself, just for fun. and I now have 5000 unique visitors a day. it must be possible to earn some money with this. Can someone explain to me how this sharing sites make money. Kind regards,
Exactly as okpa has stated, ad banners (CPM, CPA), popups and premium account sales. Believe me, if a company is paying you for getting people to download files, there's a method to them to make money off of it also.
Well generally, the site owners get paid when someone purchases premium access to the website. In addition, advertisement space can help with a source of income which will often be based upon the amount of traffic the website gets.
There have been a few good things mentioned above already, but if you want to be really mean about it, you could protect the download pages with a gateway like from CPAlead. However, these gateways piss off quite a few people and there are already scripts out there to get around them but there are still a lot of people that don't know about this and will fill out a service just to get their download and you'll get $5+ everytime. However, be careful with this since this could lower the amount of traffic you get (if lots of people are pissed off, they'll just not go back to upload stuff with you). So you could f.e. remove it for all premium accounts (including their uploads).
im talking when they do pay per download hotfile for instance they pay you up to $15/1000 downloads... wanna bet they aint selling 5 $6 accounts for that minimum...
They Earn From Pop-Ups, Pop Unders, & Premium Account Sales. Even if 1 in 1000 Guys buys a premium account, they make the premium sale money + the impressions they showed to 1k guys.
