"Christmas surprise" for the American people.

"Christmas surprise" for the American people. It's based upon the FCC's self-imposed December 21 deadline to implement new Internet rules.

The FCC is ready to add the Internet to its "portfolio" of regulated industries.

Personally I have already emailed my senators and representative expressing my displeasure regarding this move which I oppose.

Care to elaborate - these rules are specific for the Internet separate from the other medias?

I am also worried about this. The people who want to create this law do not understand the internet, most of our congressmen and women are in their late 50s and thus did not grow up with it. Even if it does become "regulated" there will always be intelligent people who can get around that.

The U.S. government is going to completely lose control of the Internet. The FCC doesn't understand just how close they are to being irrelevant. We, the tech-elite, can replace the existing DNS system with something far more resilient to governmental interference. If they push this issue, P2P DNS will become inevitable.

Those rules are quite frightening if applied in an abusive matter . So far it looks like even if they implement the thing , it will still get shoot out of the sky .

I for one hate any rules that affect the Internet , the Internet stand for total freedom and it should stay this way forever .

People need to read what is being done, the aim of the regulation is to only stop ISP's from discriminating among customers with different needs. Sounds fair to me.

I totally agree. I was trying to torrent 50 gigs of pirated movies the other day, and my broadband provider had torrent traffic so throttled on my 35mb home connection that it would have taken a week to get those movies down. I ran the same torrent via torrent-flux on my backbone connected server and got the whole package down in 1 hour.

Its really nice to see that our federal government stepping in with new laws to prohibit ISPs from discriminating against my torrent traffic and my right to download warez.

You download gay porn and Hitler films, I download pirated movies. At least we can agree that private companies have no right to dictate what type, or how much of a given type of traffic rolls over their equipment. It shouldn't even be called "their" equipment. Technically speaking, they only have the equipment at the good graces of the government. We should just call it government equipment. After all, only the government has the proper education and wisdom to determine what sites should and should not be seen, as we witnessed recently with their ever so wise confiscation of a whole host of domain names.

If you are trying to provoke me into falling down to your level then its not working, I noticed that you are yet again unable to discuss without resorting to unsubstantiated personal attacks.

What, like wasting my time making animations about you, and posting them on threads with your name in the title in violation of forum rules? Son, when and if you reach my level, you'll be able to argue your position on its merits with the use of facts. The little pokes and jabs will serve as the garnishes to your argument, rather than the primary course. Here endith the lesson.

I see you are bitter. Since when did making an animation about what you put to print on a regular basis classify as an attack of any sort? Anyways its a good thing that the OP of this thread is a moderator. Hopefully they will look at your posts (and previous) posts to see what kind of trolling you resort to as a part of your fulltime job and deal with it appropriately. We were trying to have a decent civilized discussion on this thread based on facts but you had to butt in and contaminate it with your crap to turn it into another one of your PR Pissing threads. I will not be responding to any further posts of your in this thread. If someone makes a legitimate argument on the topic of the discussion (not your type of trolling) then I might participate. You can continue with your monologue now. Best of Luck.

Anytime you open up a thread with a member name in the title, there is a good chance you are in violation of the forum rules. Attach a hand crafted video made to mock that member, and the odds go up dramatically. If you haven't seen an infraction for it yet, I suspect you soon will. I'm not bitter about it. As I pointed out in my previous post, everytime you have to fall back to something like that, it is an admission of defeat. It says you were unable to argue a topic on its merits. It actually puts a smile on my face.

Interesting. Is that why you were unable to respond to the little tongue in cheek comment I made which was very much on topic and relevant to the thread? It constituted the 90% of the post you are whining about. I'll repost it for you here.
