I moved from the big city to the big country about 12 months ago. I'm now getting much nicer (and quieter) visitors:

    That's nice.

I moved only 10 minutes away from where I used to live within Greater London but the difference is enormous. Also much more suburban, rural almost. I hadn't noticed I missed it (green fields and stuff instead of concrete and bricks)!

Yeah but when it's quiet you can hear what's going on in the real world :)

I moved to a semi-rural area 6 years ago and have not missed the city life one bit :)

Since most of us can work from anywhere with a phone line or clear sky, I'm suprised there hasn't been a bigger shift out of the cities.

If satellite internet wasn't so crazy expensive I'd be living even further away.

Frogs, ducks, kookaburras, and the rest of the cool animal crew we all forget about when we live in the city. Plus the space to think, which I didn't notice I was missing.

There's also some pretty fkn loud planes on their way to Sydney, which are actually kinda comforting for a city kid to hear in the middle of the night.

And sometimes if it's really quiet, and the wind is still, you can hear gun shots on the weekend.
    Beautiful. :D

I'm sure you could buy a 'sounds of the city' CD to lull you to sleep at night :p
