Hey guys, what a great site with tons of resources, I started a new web store selling unique silver and gemstone jewelry, currently we sell on eBay, selling more than 1100 pieces of jewelry daily. I know there's more potential out there, so is there are any products / services you guys can recommend? Right now, Andrew (andrewaff on DP) is doing the SEO service with 7 keywords, but that will take several months (if not more) before any results are yielded. I have 50,000 customer e-mail address that I plan on using, but I doubt that will drive much traffic. We have a facebook account with almost 1000 "likes", but posting links on there is only yielding minimal results. I am also sending out links to our web store when buyers makes a purchase from our eBay store. If you guys know of a product or service that can drive this site with targeted traffic, please let me know! thanks (I trying to stay away from adwords, cost me a fortune once before lol)
Highly targeted PPC campaigns (AdWords). But also basic SEO work should help bring in traffic early for long tail keywords. Have you thought about a mail campaign? Sending a special offer to your current customers, letting them know you have a website, and giving them a discount for their first purchase...etc 50,000 current customers is a big number. Surely you can get some decent responses, especially from repeat customers. Just offer them a deal that's better than eBay.
If you want to avoid adwords then stick with SEO.. If your email address are fresh or especially opt in or double opt. in then then it will work like a charm. For email marketing use ConstantContact.com ( the CEO is very smart & Its a great company) or Aweber which is also good. -C
I was going to suggest the same. You can always try PPC campaigns with Google Adwords, Adbrite, bidvertiser, Miva, etc...
If you have a list of 50,000 and the emails are good, then you're sitting on a pot of gold $$$. After that I would target long tail keywords and then Facebook. It's not the number of "likes" that gets you leads it's the relationships on Facebook. Most people make the mistake of sending out links on Facebook and are surprised when they don't get sales. I generate leads for Facebook and have made thousands of dollars but the strategy is simple, build RELATIONSHIPS.
