Hello All, I have recently had a drop in rankings by a mile. I used to be on page 5-6 for my main keyword "poker chips" and now we have dropped to like page 18. As well all my rankings for other keywords have dropped. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on the matter. I checked my website on Hubspot's Website Grade, which ranked my site 99/100. I was wondering if anyone here could give me a few areas to check that might cause this monstrosity to happen to my website? Best Regards, Nick
I'll assume this is for OutplayPoker.com? You seem to be good. I do notice some stuff is missing. - rel="canonical" is absent. Details: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=139394 - Your robots.txt is basically saying "index everything," which seems to be fine in this case. Do you have a sitemap? If so, include it in the robots.txt. - Are you using Google Webmaster Tools? - Have you considered Directory Submissions? EasySubmits is a good place to start.
Best thing to do its do more work on adding content and increase links to the site. That key phrase will be very competitive so you need to stay ahead of the game, and react before you drop...
Hey there, again, content is king. It's the best SEO advice I can give. Create a few articles containing your keyword(s) and optimise them properly, to the max. Then submit them to social media websites and hope for the best.
Thanks, I have started really beefing up our linking efforts. I have starting linking with poker blogs (PR 5s and PR 6s). So that should help with linking. @-aw- Thanks for the info Ill get that done right away. I do have Google Webmasters and have been looking at that constantly. However I am using a e-commerce platform so I don't really know if rel="canonical" will actually work? @HorrorMovies and @GeekHang We do have a blog in which we have been updating quite frequently. Thanks for the update.
What else you can do is add a little more text on your homepage describing what you actually sell. Also, use header tags with key words and phrases
is your domain name new? if it is i do believe that you are experiencing what google called google sandbox it happens to all site that is newly registered. just continue to build quality links from your site and update your site regularly to gain that rankings back.
@internetproz My domain is about 9 months old so you might be right. However we were ranking in the top 5 pages before for a while. Now we have fell to page 22 I believe. @HorrorMovies Thanks for the info, I have I believe 1 H1, 4 H2 and a H3 tag on the homepage, which is defiantly enough. I will add more text though.
for competitive key word you have to be consistent . you must add content on ur site on daily basis as well as you have to work hard on the backlinks. just keep on generating backlinks and add more content. Trust me u will rank better
How old is your site? If its too new, it might do something called "Google Dance" and I have seen some sites that "Dance" really hard
I have heard this a lot, my site is about 9-10 months old presently. But it is very prestigious with multiple pr 8, pr 6, pr 5 links. I am looking at my website currently and trying to see if there is anything that might be holding it back.
I think you need to create more backlinks to your website from related website with similar content. If your website has some backlinks from other websites that are not related to "poker chips", than this could be the cause of your dropping. The keywords of your website may have diluted, because of this, and this is why you have dropped in rankings for that phrase.
Thanks! Really the only backlink we have gotten that wasn't directly related to poker, is from a prestigious PR 8 news website.
