Hey Guys, So me and my partner launched a site about a month ago with no SEO what so ever. It has come time to start. What are the basic requirements to start heading up the Google Ranks? Is there a tool to check what ranking our site is for all keywords? I mean, i found heaps of tools that ask for a keyword + URL which is great but ideally I could just put in our URL and BAM it shows the keywords and their ranks... Thanks
If you are heading into the SEO world, make sure you are educated. This post helped me and others to get the fundamentals down: http://guides.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-search-engine-optimization As for a tool to check where you are ranking in you can check out SEO Tools Rank Checker, its a plug in for FireFox: http://tools.seobook.com/firefox/rank-checker/
Great. thanks for the article, ill be reading that one shortly! That plugin still requires you to input keywords tho? Isnt there something that all you need to do is put in your domain and it lists all keywords and their rankings?
I was scratching my head because I thought I saw somewhere that there was better one than Alexa.com , but I forgot. You can try Alexa, but is notoriously unreliable. The best way to see your search results is to use Awstats and Latest Visitors in your cPanel, very accurate. Any reputable hosting company should have cPanel, if yours does not and you are serious about SEO and internet business, you need to find a host that does. Awstats lets you see (amongst many other things) what key words and phrases people are typing into search engines to get to your site. Use Latest Visitors so you can see and actually click the referring link of the visitor, if they came from a search engine you will see what they typed in and where your rank is. Its all quick and easy.
Yup ive got AWStats but that doesnt tell you your ranking....just what the search term the surfer came from Thanks tho all the same
To start with the seo first do the keyword research and then according to that write the proper title and description for the website. After that start with the basic submission process like directory submission, social bookmarking, article submission and press release. After getting some keywords up in the search engine; start the link building for the website.
all you need to do is to optimize it internally like on page optimization create quality content place targeted keyword on your content. then the second thing you have to do is build quality backlinks and gather quality backlinks
If you enter your website url in the google keyword tool it will tell you what it thinks your site is about... But there is no tool that does exactly what you want. Surely you have some idea yourself? The starting point for good SEO is always good keyword research.
If you are really looking for promoting your site in major search engines then first go with Search Engine submissions. Why because it will index your website first in search engines then later go for onpage and offpage promotions. Ravi SEO LABS
